"I wanted people to be able to see me as me, not just as that girl from Destiny's Child. I wanted them to see someone who has gone through a lot of real life experiences and is so happy and so blessed. I wanted people to really see a side of me that they may not know." Kelly Rowland
One-third of the popular female group Destiny's Child, Kelly Rowland rose to fame with the success of the group. In 1997, together with DC, Rowland launched the multi-platinum single "No, No, No" and subsequently released the platinum self-titled debut album in 1998.

She followed it up with the release of her debut album Simply Deep, which was eventually certified gold and topped the U.K LP chart.

However, the couple parted ways a year later.
Being asked about the rumor, she said, "The wedding's off! I'm not telling (if I gave the ring back). And before you ask, there's no one new. It has it's up and downs being single. But I never will again (talk about my boyfriends). I get it now - the next time I fall in love, I'm just going to shut up."
Rowland and the members of "Destiny Child" announced that they would be splitting up after their tour ends in the fall.
Whitney Houston's Aficionado
Childhood and Family:
Atlanta, Georgia native musician and actress Kelendria Trene Rowland, who would later be famous as Kelly Rowland, was born on February 11, 1981. She spent most of her childhood in Atlanta until the family moved to Houston, Texas, where she attended Lamar High School.
"I used to drive my mommy up the wall trying to listen out for Whitney! I remember getting her first album as the first record I ever owned. I played it every day." Kelly Rowland
Kelly Rowland demonstrated a knack for singing when she was just a little girl. At age four, motivated by Whitney Houston, Kelly started singing in the choir of her church. When the family relocated to Houston, Texas, Kelly's mounting interest in music bloomed. She joined Beyonce, LaTavia Robertson and LeToya Luckett to perform on Star Search in 1992. By the mid 1990s, they formed a female group named Destiny's Child. In 2001, LaTavia Robertson and LeToya Luckett unexpectedly departed from the group, but Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin soon replaced them. Five months later, Franklin left the group, hence making the Destiny Child trio. With the group, Kelly experienced huge success as well as gained worldwide exposure.
Additionally, Kelly made a name for herself when she debuted with her solo album and added acting to her endeavors. 5' 8" inch tall Kelly no longer lives with fellow band member Beyonce. She currently has her own house in Sugar Land, Texas.
Simply Deep
Career:
"We wanted our solo albums (each member of DC is working on individual projects) to be different from Destiny's Child so that people wouldn't compare them to the group's work. The albums are an opportunity for people to get to know our personalities. In my case, I'm sure that most of my fans didn't realize how much I have always loved rock. In fact, when I first went into the studio and told the producers I wanted a mixture of Sade with really edgy rock, they looked at me like I was crazy! And honestly, about halfway through the recording process even I was wondering if you could mix off those influences together. But it all worked out wonderfully." Kelly Rowland
