Вы сделали большой стилистический прыжок альбомом «Minutes To Midnight». Но тексты песен всё так же оражают боль и страдание, как и предыдущие альбомы Linkin Park. Что же держит вас в этих рамках?

Ну, начать стоит с того, что в текстах наших песен не отражаются наши судьбы. Например, вы не читаете документы по моему разводу в лирике Linkin Park. Но я развёлся, это был трудный период в моей жизни. Также мне пришлось побороть множество своих не очень правильных пристрастий. Вы забываете, что мы нормальные люди. Лажа в наших жизнях время от времени тоже случается. Наша музыка — хорошее лекарство.

Как, по-твоему, отреагируют фанаты на новое направление вашей музыки?

Сложно сказать. Тем, кто покупал «Hybrid Theory» в 15 лет, сейчас уже 23. Мне кажется, что принять должны хорошо и тепло. Надеюсь, что слушатели будут уважать этот альбом, оценят то, что мы сделали. Если бы мы сделали трилогию (аналог «Hybrid Theory» и «Meteora»), не уверен, что большинство поняло бы нас правильно. Наверно, начали бы говорить, что мы как «пони с одним-единственным трюком», а мы стоим гораздо большего.

А почему вас коробит клише рэп-рок, что не так? Я клоню к тому, что у вас есть DJ и рэппер.

Не хочу показаться высокомерным, но мне НЕ нравится 98% групп, причисленных к тому же жанру, что и мы. Мы никогда не считали и не чувствовали себя рэп-роковой командой. В этой струе мало уважаемой музыки. Остальные ребята, наверно, убьют меня за то, что я сейчас говорю. Приятно считать себя частью этого, люди верят, что мы внесли огромный вклад в развитие этого жанра, но в то же время отстойно то, что этот ярлык намертво к нам приклеился. Для нового альбома было написано около 150 песен и то, что звучало в стиле двух предыдущих альбомов, было выброшено в корзину без сожаления.

Так что же Майк Шинода и Джо Хан будут делать на сцене во время исполнения «Given Up», этой по сути гаражно-роковой песни?

Майк играет на гитаре в большинстве песен альбома, так что он сам придумал себе занятие. А вот Джо действительно будет прохлаждаться на этой песне. Во время исполнения большинства нашего старого он, не поверите, делает практически то же самое. Он мотает головой или машет руками, или просто пьёт коктейль. Или вообще проверяет свою почту.

Отказываясь от жанра, который сделал вас звёздами, не обрекаете ли вы себя на риск провала?

Я считаю, что морально мы достаточно хорошо подготовили себя. Я понимаю, что о нас долго ничего не было слышно, что есть много людей, которым нравятся наши предыдущие альбомы. Мы готовы услышать от части из них «отстой». Мы продали 40 миллионов копий наших альбомов. Я не бьюсь за доверие, справедливость или уважение — мы это уже честно заработали.

народ,кто нить знает зачем LP так изменились?)я понимаю так делают все рок(лучшие!!!) звёзды,но всё таки? вот что я недавно увидел(кусочек моего днева)):

"Вчера,часа в 2-3 ночи переключая каналы нарвался на один клип...группа и песня вроде не знакомая,а вот солист с тонким голосом...где то я его видел...и клип с главной темой того какое у нас отстойное и жестокое общество.пол клипа можно проплакать.))потом показали солиста крупноым планом и на нём остановились на время...блин,этож Честер!!!не в смысле читос,а Честер Бенингтон из Linkin Park!я обалдел! песня абсолютно новая как и клип.плюсы:наконец то Майка (Шинода,второй солист и гитарист) заткнули с его рэпом, дали в руки гитару и заставили просто играть!!!минусы:вместе с рэпом убрали скрим Честера из-за чего песня стала чуть ли не попсовой...но как они там внешне изменились(так делают все рокеры)!!!Честер кажись с ирокезом(снова)) стоит и во всё кожанном,Майк со здоровой бородой...да вообще все заросли будто любимая парикхмахерская закрылась!!!вот такие у мня потрясениЯ от увиденного...да вообще там сток клипов клёвых показывали!эх..."

P.S. не обращайте внимания что вроде так не лестно отзываюсь о Linkin PArK - я ac` равно отсаюсь их стаааааааааааааааааррррррррыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыымммммммм поклонником.(уже лет 5).ВСЕМ РЕСПЕКТ!)картинку сам делал...)
