A brain surgeon receives a phone call from a colleague on a Saturday night. "We need another poker player for tonight" the friend says. "I'll be there right away!" the doctor replies with a sense of urgency. As he puts on his coat and makes his way out the door his wife asks him "Is it serious?" and the doctor replies "Oh, very! There are 3 other doctors already there!"
With six events on the go there was more than enough action to go around but it was tough to ignore Jake Cody on his journey to become just the third Triple Crown winner in poker history.
It might have been the 40-odd British fans that were as loud as any crowd we’ve ever seen at the WSOP but Cody backed them up with exceptional play beating Gus Hansen and finally Yevgeniy Timoshenko to claim this year's $25k heads-up title.
