Far over the sea,
In the land of tea,
Where the cherry blossoms grow,
Lives the quaintest child I know;
There lives Yo San,
Maid of Japan.

I wish I could float
In a fairy boat;
There in dreams I’d sometimes be

Did you ever dig to China In your own back yard,
Digging through the earth to China In your own back yard?
Ever dig a hole so deep, And lean over far, and peep
At the wondrous land of flowers In your own back yard?

The Bonbon Mountain

When you’re dreaming do you know
That wherever you may go,
With a fairy by your side,
You may find where bonbons hide?
There’s a mountain far away;
Only fairies know the way;
But upon this mountain grow
Lovely bonbons in a row…..

Autumn Leaves

Autumn leaves of red and gold
Come whirling on the breezes bold,
To keep the sleeping flowers
Shelter’d from the cold.

Like a blanket brown and warm
They keep the tender plants from harm,
When snow is softly falling
Over field and farm.

Down in the clover

Mid feeding lambs and springing grass
There sat a little lad and lass--
A green umbrella overhead,
The flickering shade of boughs instead--
And read a book of fairy rime
All in their gay vacation time.

The End of a Child’s Day

Now, through the dusk
With muffled bell
The Dustman comes
The world to tell
Night’s elfin lanterns
Burn and gleam
In the twilight, wonderful
World of Dream……..

Sea-Fever

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,
And a gray mist on the sea’s face, and a gray dawn breaking……
