‘Black Spring’ – is God’s invitation to us to ‘gather stones’ (Ecclesiastes 3:5).

Yesterday, when I was coming back from village ‘Zhigalova’, where I served Antipascha, I received a phone call from a friend of mine from an Irkutsk branch of well known newspaper ‘Komsomolskaya Pravda.’ She asked me to comment regarding this ‘Black Spring,’ and what could it mean, with all the terrorist attacks, earthquakes, and air crushes?’ I asked for 20 minutes for praying and contemplation time before I could answer. Sure enough, she did call me back in exactly 20 minutes and the following is what came to me, and what I told her:

‘Jubilee Times’

There is a place in the Bible, namely in the book of Ecclesiastes, saying that there is ‘a time to throw stones and a time to gather stones’ (Ecclesiastes 3:5). These words fit well into Law of Moses regarding ‘Jubilee Times.’ Jubilee Times are applicable to a human’s life of about 50 years, where 50-th year is, in fact, the ‘Year of Jubilee.’ It is a year of decision. It is a year when every human is given Godly advice: ‘ 17 Ye shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God: for I am the LORD your God. 18 Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety. 19 And the land shall yield her fruit, and ye shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety.’ (Lev 25:17-19).

‘A time to throw stones (first 25 years) – these are years of experience. During these years a person often makes mistakes, makes decisions, sometimes - foolish decisions. ‘And a time to gather stones’ are the latter 25 years of one’s life, these are the years that are often given as a chance to realize one’s mistakes and correct them by asking forgiveness for our transgressions and forgiving those who transgressed against us… by letting everyone and everything go with an easy heart for Crist’s sake.

We should take for the beginning of ‘Jubilee period’ the time of ‘Perestroyka’ that set all the peoples of former USSR and Eastern Europe free of it’s pagan’s communist yoke. In the Spring of 1985 – the new era began, the era of new freedom, the era of material wealth. Never had countries of “Warsaw Pact’ lived so wealthy and freely as during these years after ‘perestroyka.’ Meanwhile, 25 years past by. Today, these countries, having abused their freedom, sunked through the series of destructive decisions and steps that were made. Now, after 25 years went by, is the time when these countries of Eastern Europe, as well as Russia, are actually standing at the turning point of the Jubilee Times. We are half way through. Now, that we are half way through, God, as it often happens in the history of human kind, by means of the loud sounding of apocalyptic trumpets (of terrorist attacks, earthquakes, and air crushes - to name a few) is warning us, directing our attention to the fact that we are entering the latter half of ‘Jubilee Times,’ times where we are to ‘ gather stones’ (Ecclesiastes 3:5). We are entering the times were we are to turn away from mutual accusations and to work together ‘gathering stones.’ Times when we are not to oppress one another; but to fear God. That is, if we are to put a stop to an advancement of evil. Now is the time to look around with understanding that what ‘worked for the last 25 years is not going to work anymore. Now is the time ‘to gather stones.’

That is the meaning of our ‘Black Spring’ of 2010. We have to carefully reconsider our next 25 years as they are going to lead us to the ‘Jubilee Year.’ The year when God will reconsider whether we are to stay within the historic earthly boundaries of our countries, and/or whether we are to be in our Earthly boundaries at all or not.

This Spring of 2010 darkened not only for Russians alone, but, as we can clearly see today, for every nation that was ever connected with our country, as well as countries that are far away from us. To all the politicians of the world we call to – rejoice and ‘see that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time’ (Ephesians 5:15-16) as God will ask of you, and of all of us, regarding our ways. ‘Even so, come, Lord Jesus’ ( Rev. 22:20).
