DR, Punta Cana and the resort were a huge disappointment.
three positives though - weather was great, massages were excellent and i didn't gain any weight.
negatives - too numerous to list them all here. i'll just say that independents are not for us, we'll stick to colonials from now on.

very backward country. reminded me a lot of jamaica. both are extremely proud of having kicked the "european opressors" out but the result of such independence is scary. extreme poverty, horrible roads, undrinkable water, unedible food and general population that looks at you as if you owe them something.
