Stories can be great tools to use with young learner classes. If you research a storybook well, consider your students and their interests, and then prepare beforehand, you’ll be able to introduce them to captivating English-language stories.
It can be difficult to motivate young learners to engage in English, but well-told stories will have them wanting to come to your lessons and learn more. If the story really resonates with them, then they’ll even be keen to take these stories home and continue reading them by themselves or with parents/guardians.
If you can create this level of interest around a storybook, you’ll be given an enormous range of possible follow-up activities. These activities can be used to target all the key language skills and can vary in difficulty – enough to cover the full range of young learner classes.
