Открытие гробницы Тутанхамона в 1922 году, вызвавшее очередной подъём египтомании, нашло отражение в новом художественном стиле ар-деко «Египетский стиль прочно укоренился в ар-деко, использовался в мебели, ювелирных украшениях, одежде, отразился на искусстве книжной иллюстрации и театральных декорациях». В моду вошли короткие женские прически «под египтянок».
