Вилле: Мы также уяснили для себя, что такое шоу-бизнес. Это не для нас, мы просто музыканты.
Многие молодые группы с ростом собственной популярности попадают в ловушки и западни, расставляемые им законами этого самого шоу-бизнеса. Вы избежали подобной участи?
Вилле: Я бы не хотел перечислять все, но мы действительно, как и многие другие, делали ошибки. Мы предпочитаем учиться на своих ошибках, а не на огрехах других. Главное - не терять голову.
Как правило, именно третья пластинка определяет дальнейшую жизнеспособность и рентабельность коллектива. Так ли это в случае с "Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights"?
Вилле: Все пластинки имеют огромное значение в жизни группы. Они как исторические документы, фиксирующие и описывающие все, что происходит с группой на протяжении многих лет. Я бы не стал с такой позиции придавать "Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights" особый статус, это было бы несправедливо по отношению к двум предыдущим альбомам.
Как вы сами могли бы охарактеризовать "Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights"? Это пластинка, искрящаяся солнечными и праздничными эмоциями глэм-рока Западного побережья, или полная северных свинцовых переживаний?
Мидж: Не совсем так. Я бы назвал Восточное побережье золотой серединой.
Вилле: Или все-таки Атлантический океан, где-то там, ха-ха. А вообще, что-то такое "иггипоповское".
А в чем заключается ваше финское своеобразие?
Вилле: Мы очень меланхоличны в музыке. Это национальное.
Кстати, Финляндия и Венгрия - две страны, которые еще недавно держали пальму первенства по количеству самоубийств среди населения. Насколько мне известно, Вилле, твоя прапрабабушка была венгеркой...
Вилле: Ну, меланхолия еще не означает депрессивного состояния или пессимизма. Финны вообще не были никогда особо жизнерадостным и "сияющим" народом.
До того, как ты стал зарабатывать на жизнь в качестве музыканта HIM, ты усердно работал в секс-шопе...
Вилле: Да, это был секс-шоп моего отца. Я воспринимал это, как нормальную работу, вкалывал от зари до заката. Но мне ужасно хотелось играть, писать музыку, я рад, что все так поменялось.
Вернуться на прежнюю работу желания не было?
Вилле: Возможно, позже (смеется).
Насколько положительно, - кроме материальной стороны, - отразился на вас успех текущей пластинки?
Вилле: Морально мы стали намного сильнее и увереннее.
Во многом вы стали популярны благодаря видеоклипам. Какое у тебя вообще отношение к видео-музыке?
Вилле: У нас нет ни одного удачного клипа. На их создание была потрачена куча денег, и все зря. Но, к сожалению, без телевизионной ротации сейчас ни у кого нет никаких шансов на успех. Зато есть риск, что тебя никогда никто не узнает. Это не 70-е годы, когда все решали "живые" концерты.
А мог бы ты назвать 5 своих любимых клипов, и прокомментировать их?
Вилле: KISS, "Heavens On Fire" - после него я стал музыкантом;
DEPECHE MODE, "Enjoy The Silence" - очень манящий видеоряд;
THE SISTERS OF MERCY, "Black Planet",- просто фантастика, нет слов;
Мадонна, "Live To Tell" - отличная атмосфера 80-х годов, никакого насилия;
MONSTER MAGNET, "Space Lord" - это мои фавориты последнего времени.

Поздавляю,товарищи!По данным на начало октября 2004 года альбом "DEEP SHADOWS & BRILLIANT HIGHLIGHTS" начал крестовый поход на американские чарты!В US TOP 200 он под номером 190,а в чарте BILLBOARD HEARTSEEKERS под номером 10!Заранее не обольщайтесь : в свое время "Парк Горького" болтался куда выше,а "HANOI ROCKS" так и вовсе наверху,а где они сейчас?
Кстати,внимательно посмотрите на картинку.Что у нас нынче финны пьют?"Балтику"?А где они ее нашли?Не приезжая ни в Прибалтику,ни в Россию?
