U.S. refuses to pay social security old-age benefits

For over 10 years now, the U.S. Government has refused to pay me my social security old-age benefits.

This refusal is in direct violation of the U.S. Law on Social Security, which contains no political qualifications for receiving one's old-age benefits. These actions are in violation of the U.S. Constitution (14^th Amendment), which forbids the government to deprive an individual of his property “without due process of law.”

The U.S. Government's Social Security Administration has acknowledged that I meet all the qualifications to receive my old-age benefits and that I have filled out and submitted all the required forms.

In spite of my repeated requests, neither the Social Security Administration nor the U.S. Embassy in Moscow nor anyone else in the U.S. Government has provided an “explanation” as to why I am being denied my social security benefits.

My old-age benefits are not a gift. They derive from the substantial sums that were deducted – directly and indirectly – from my paychecks during all the years I lived and worked in the U.S.

What is happening is a case of out-and-out thievery.

The U.S. Government blatantly violated my human, legal and constitutional rights by conducting a terror campaign that forced me to leave my country and obtain political exile abroad.. For over a decade, this same Government has further violated my rights by stealing my Social Security old-age benefits.

All this proves once again that the only law that counts in the United States of America is the Law of the Jungle.

Crises come, crises go. At a huge human cost.

In Marx's time, crises occurred with rather consistent regularity every decade or so “and later at more lengthy and less definite intervals” (VI Lenin, Collected Workers, Vol. 21, p. 47-48). The Great Depression of the 1930's was unprecedented for its scope, depth and duration. Stock market crashes and recessions have occurred since that time, but in the advanced capitalist world, the bone-crushing situation of the 1930's has not been repeated – so far.

As we shall explain, a qualitative and irreversible distortion of the capitalist monetary system combined with massive governmental debts has delayed a major crisis. But has not and cannot stop indefinitely a major, world-wide economic collapse. A major crisis has simply been delayed, and the artificial measures used to keep the ship afloat will only intensify the huge crisis yet to come.

Money: a commodity in spite of all denials. In capitalism, all commodities are exchanged for other commodities. In modern capitalism, we can exclude barter – the direct exchange of non-monetary commodities with eachother – as an insignificant factor in economic life.

Marx was emphatic that money is a commodity. “That money is a commodity is therefore a new discovery only for those who, when they analyze it, start from its fully developed shape... some writers have been led to hold that the value of gold and silver is imaginary. В США 133 человека, подозреваемые в сотрудничестве с нацистами, а также в совершении военных преступлений в период Второй мировой войны, получили от государства социальные выплаты в размере порядка 20,2 миллионов долларов, сообщает агентство Associated Press.

По информации агентства, крупные денежные выплаты предоставлялись предполагаемым нацистским преступникам, охранникам СС, а также ряду других лиц, обвиненных в военных преступлениях в годы Второй мировой войны.

С помощью лазейки в законе министерство юстиции США убеждало бывших нацистов покинуть страну в обмен на пособия, пишет AP.

Отмечается, что государство осуществляло выплаты в период с февраля 1962 года по январь 2015 года.

Former Nazis received $20.2M in Social Security benefits, watchdog says

A report from the Social Security Administration’s inspector general revealed that more than 130 suspected Nazi war criminals, SS guards and others who may have participated in the Third Reich’s atrocities collected $20.2 million in retirement benefits.

The Associated Press reports the inspector general said nearly a quarter of the total, $5.7 million, went to individuals who were found to have played a role in the Nazi persecution and had been deported. More than $14 million was paid to people who were not reported but to those who allegedly or were found to have assisted the Nazis in World War II in which millions of Jews perished in the Holocaust. The full report is expected to be released next week.

The watchdog report comes seven months after The Associated Press revealed benefits were paid to former Nazis after they were forced out of the U.S. The AP found that the Justice Department used a legal loophole to persuade Nazi suspects to leave the U.S. in exchange for Social Security benefits. IF they agreed to go voluntarily or fled the country before their deportation, they could keep their benefits.

Congress passed legislation to close the loophole and bar Nazi suspects from receiving benefits. President Obama signed the measure into law last year.

Rep. Carolyn Maloney, a New York Democrat, requested the inspector general look into the scope of the payments following AP's investigation. "This report is another reminder that we must never forget the atrocities committed by the Nazis," Maloney said Saturday in an emailed statement. "According to this report, 133 alleged and confirmed Nazis actively worked to conceal their true identities from our government and received millions of dollars in Social Security payments."

The report doesn't include the names of the former Nazis and is narrowly focused on how many Nazi suspects received benefits. It criticizes the Social Security Administration for improperly paying four beneficiaries $15,658 because it did not suspend the benefits in time.

The report includes a detailed breakdown of how the payments were distributed.

The Social Security Administration last year refused the AP's request that it provide the total number of Nazi suspects who received benefits and the dollar amounts.

Tendency for the equalization of profits. While capitalists within each branch of industry compete with each other, there is also competition among different spheres to obtain the greatest profit from investment. Capital therefore tends to flow from areas of low to higher profitability, which tends to equalize the rates of profit in branches with varying organic composition of capital.

Tendency for the rate of profit to fall. The process of accumulation in extended reproduction and the continual modernization of the means of production leads to the gradual growth of constant capital in relation to variable capital. Mutually competing capitalists seek to lower the cost of their production by introducing labor-saving machinery, whereby more goods can be produced with the use of less labor-power.

The stark reality of crises. “During crises, “part of the commodities on the market can complete their process of circulation and reproduction only through an immense contraction of their prices, hence through a depreciation of the capital which they represent.... The chain of payment obligations due at specific dates is broken in a hundred places. Extended capitalist reproduction. In the earlier phases of capitalist development, simple reproduction generally predominated. As the wealth of capitalists increased and as the industrial revolution gathered speed and might, the capitalists, especially the most powerful, focused their attention on accumulating greater wealth, as opposed to simply indulging in personal luxuries. “Essentially the (modern – AL) capitalist process of production is simultaneously a process of accumulation” (Capital, Vol. III, p.281).

In order to accumulate additional capital – to purchase plants, machinery, raw materials and fuel as well as additional labor-power – the capitalists cannot expend all the surplus value they expropriate on their own personal consumption. “The capitalist cannot spend the value of his surplus-product for articles of consumption and at the same time consume the surplus-product for articles itself productively, i.e., incorporate it in his productive capital” (Vol. II, p. 508).

This “switch” from total consumption to accumulation signifies the “piling up of commodity-supplies in Dept. 2 (consumer goods – AL) which cannot be reconverted into productive capital (hence relative over-production in Dept. 2): surplus of money-capital in Dept. 1 and reproduction deficit in Dept. 2... one portion of the surplus-value is spent as revenue, and the other is converted into capital” (Vol. II, p. 507).

“The premise of simple reproduction, that v(1) + s(1) be equal to c(2) is incompatible with (modern – AL) capitalist reproduction... accumulation of capital, real (modern – AL) capitalist production, would be impossible under such circumstances. The fact of capitalist accumulation therefore excludes the possibility of c(2)

Two departments of production. Two main sectors of the capitalist (or for that matter, socialist) economy are evident. Marx called these two main sectors “departments.” Deparment 1 is that part of the economy devoted to producing the means of production. Department 2 produces consumer goods.

The aggregate social product of each department is composed of constant capital (c), variable capital (v) and surplus value (s) or c(1) + v(1) + s(a) and c(2) + v(2) + s(2).

Simple capitalist reproduction. The process of production uses up raw materials and fuel (more or less rapidly) and equipment and buildings (slowly). The products that are manufactured, whether capital or consumer goods, are consumed. All these must be reproduced for the economy to go forward. This process of renewal of production is called “reproduction.”

Marx analyzed two types of reproduction: simple and extended. In simple production, in both departments capitalists aim to receive value greater than their input values (c + v) by virtue of their expropriation of the surplus value (s) from the workers' labor. Thus the basis of inequality in society is evident.

The value produced by capitalist society in a cycle (or, for convenience, a year) are simply as follows:

c(1)+ v(1) + s(1) Department 1 (producer goods)

c(2)+ v(2) + s(2) Department 2 (consumer goods)

Основополагающая для экономики США система рабства, геноцид коренных народов Америки — не единственные достижения «демократии» в стране.

Тогдашние проповедники «Америки — Прекрасной!», решились, что американцы (имели в виду белокожных американцев, конечно) — вышестоящий народ (все остальные, разумеется, нижестоящие народы). Следует, что такой великий народ обладает специальными, полу-божественным качествами и привилегиями. Согласно самозваному «Доктрину предначертании» (Manifest Destiny) США имели предназначенные права владеть не только людьми, а также новой землей. «От моря (Атлантического океана) до сияющего моря (Тихого океана)! — From Sea to Shining Sea! Позднее в Германии А. Гитлер и нацисты действовали на основании подобной теории. Мол, немецкий народ - особой, «вышестоящий» народ - «ubermenschen” - который имеет неопровержимое право на владение новым «жизненным пространством» (lebensraum) и право жестокого, убийственного покорения других «нижестоящих» народов (untermenschen)..

1835 г.. Класс мощных рабовладельцев США решился завоевать новую территорию. Куда идти? Северная часть страны не подходящая. Климатические условия, почва не соответствовали спецификам трудоемкой сельскохозяйственной работы, выполняющей рабами.

Почему именно сельскохозяйственная работа? Дело в том, что, при возможности рабы боролись против своего рабского состояния. Удивительно? При рабстве — зверская эксплуатация и господство террора надсмотрщиков - порка, побои, голодание, изнасилование, повешение, сожжение, расстрел рабов — нормальные, вполне законные дела. (Кода я был школьником в учебниках было написано, наоборот, что рабы были довольными, счастливыми, очень часто танцевали, пели песни, вроде бы, все было очень весело — как говорится, «Только в Америке!» - Only in America!). Часто в знак протеста рабы саботировали машинное оборудование; капиталисты обнаружили, что послать рабов туда не выгодно. В северных (сейчас северо-восточных) штатах Америки индустриализация началась и при таких условиях лучше для капиталистов было нанимать за гроши рабочих. То есть, воспользоваться системой - по К. Марксу - наемного рабства (wage slavery).

Кроме того, в северо-центральной части США (сейчас Среднем Западе - Mid-West), где многие мелкие «свободные фермеры» (free farmers) поселились, большинство их них не хотело конкурировать с неоплаченным трудом и противостояло рабстве. По той и иным причинам много бедных белокожных граждан южных штатов США не поддерживало ни систему рабства, ни предстоящее восстание рабовладельцев против федерального правительства США (в Американской гражданской войне — American Civil

Increasing surplus value. It is in the capitalists' interest to increase the amount of surplus value that they expropriate. More surplus value equals more profits. Hiring more workers is one option, but that is not always the best solution. The capitalist must after all realize his capital – that is, sell whatever products his workers produce. If there is no or a limited market for his goods, then hiring more workers will diminish, not increase, profits. In fact, capitalists generally aim to reduce their work force relative to the production of the same amount or even more goods.

Work harder. There are other ways to increase surplus value. The first is to compel workers to work harder, thus producing more in a given working day. The greater the labor productivity, the more goods are produced for the same quantity of hours worked.

Work longer. Another approach to maximizing profits is to extend the working day with no increase in pay. If workers can be made to work 10, 11 or 12 hours a day without any increase in pay, it is obvious that the capitalist thereby accrues additional surplus value. The working class throughout the world has fought bitter struggles to reduce the length of the working day to no more than 8 hours. However, with the weakening of the communist and workers' movements throughout the world, the capitalists are increasing infringing on workers' rights. Agricultural and other workers in the many “Third world” countries are required to work from sun up to sun down.

Moreover, more than one member of a family often are required to work to make ends meet. The vile practice of child-labor remains a major and ugly phenomenon, especially in the most impoverished countries. Actual slavery remains a reality in many countries, as

Human labor-power is the unique commodity which has the capacity to produce more than its value. Under capitalism, the value of the commodity labor-power, like any other commodity, is determined by the labor necessary for its production. Labor-power exists in the form of living workers, who require a definite amount of commodities (food, clothing, shelter, etc.) to live and produce new generations of workers. The labor-time needed to produce these commodities determines the value of labor-power. Thus, objectively for the capitalist class, the working person is nothing more than a “thing” to be worked hard, nearly starved, thrown out on the street if necessary, sent to fight in wars of aggression.

Capitalists seek to reduce wages to their physical minimum – just enough so that the working class can survive and reproduce. Especially during crises, employers may attempt to remunerate workers (pay wages) even below their value – leading to massive poverty and human misery, even starvation and death.

The working class, for its part, strives to survive and to raise its standard of living. This conflict is the root of the class struggle. Machinery, buildings and materials do not have to be “convinced” of anything; they are inanimate. Workers, however, are human beings and can think, organize and eventually overthrow their oppressors. Therefore, every attempt is made to make workers believe that capitalist society and capitalist governments are genuinely concerned about their welfare.

В 1830г “Закон о переселении индейцев» (Indian Removal Act) был принят. Затем началась «Тропа слез» (Trail of Tears), где индейцы были вынуждены покинуть свою землю и совершить длинное перемещение неизвестно куда, где их образ жизни был разрушен. Условия принудительного форсированного марша были крайне и умышленно жестокими​, в результате чего тысячи погибли по пути. Когда оставшиеся в живых прибыли к месту назначения они нашли, что земля неплодородная. Массовое убийство было творчеством Президента США Эндрю Джексона (Andrew Jackson) — сам не только рабовладелец, но и работорговец. Торговец людьми — «профессия» такая. Чтобы убедить индейцев, что все будет «Окей» Джексон отправил им послание: «Я обращаюсь к вам как Отец и друг... Вы знаете, что я люблю своих белокожных и краснокожных детей... Вы живете слишком близко к моим белокожным детям...ваш Отец даст вам большой участок земли... где навсегда будете жить мирно и в достатке» (Wikipedia). Сплошная ложь — дурная «привычка» при американском империализме и поныне. The law of value. As a first approximation, commodity exchange proceeds in accordance with the amount of socially-necessary labor-power expended in each commodity's production. Not every item is bought and sold precisely at its value at all times, but due to competition and the counteracting forces of supply and demand, the prices of commodities gravitate towards this value. If the price of a commodity is higher than its value, this tends to evoke an increase in its production and consequently a greater supply; other companies start producing that commodity, thereby increasing its supply. Conversely, when supply exceeds demand, prices tend to fall.

When supply exceeds demand, profits also tend to become lower. In any case, companies have an inducement to lower their costs of production and thereby gain or retain an advantage over their rivals.

This type of competition can be avoided by “fixing” prices artificially. By establishing monopolies, through government intervention, etc. However, such circumstances do not invalidate the law of value.

The organic composition of capital. Marx analyzed two forms of capital expenditure: 1) “constant capital,” consisting of machinery, buildings, fuel and raw materials; and 2) “variable capital,” the amount spend on labor, that is on the purchase of labor-power.

Among Karl Marx's and Friedrich Engels' monumental theoretical works was Marx's analysis of the underpinnings of the capitalist mode of production. The epic work was their – mainly Marx's - 3-volume analysis of capitalism “Capital.”

We will begin by outlining the main points made in this work.

Commodities. Marx begins his analysis of capitalism by studying commodities, goods which are produced for exchange with other goods (or are eventually consumed). All commodities have a dual character. First, they have a “use-value,” indicating that a significant number of people desire or need this product. Secondly, they have an “exchange-value;” given commodities may be exchanged for other commodities (one or more or partially). A correlation between “use-value” and “exchange value” is not essential. Oxygen (air) is free, although its “use-value” is obvious; humans cannot live for more than a couple of minutes without it. Intricate jewelry made of precious stones may be extremely expensive, but jewelry is hardly essential for life.

Labor theory of value. Commodities have one thing in common: they are the product of human labor. Introduction

The Great Depression of the 1930's, which swept through the entire capitalist world, was the most serious and most prolonged economic crisis in history. Millions of industrial workers were thrown out of work, farmers and agricultural workers were plunged into disaster, banks shut down and people lost their savings; entire families were faced with the threat of starvation, if not starvation itself.

The massive economic crisis led to political crises, as the ruling class of several countries – clandestinely supported by the United States, Great Britain and other “democracies” - turned to the iron fist. But while fascism had been defeated, the capitalist system itself was very far from being spent. Foremost among the imperialist powers was the United States of America, and for American capitalists, World War II had been a boon. Vast government war-time expenditures had lifted the country out of the Great Depression.
