Группа hellogoodbye была основана в 2001 году как проект школы Huntington Beach High School Форрестом Клайном. Со своим друом Джесси Курвинком, Клайн начал записывать синтезированный пауэр-поп на своем компьютере ради оазвлечения друзей. Однако, число поклонников постоянно росло,их песни стали появляться на MP3.com - 11 песен,которые потом вошли в альбом The Parachute EP.
Название группы произошло от песни Beatles "Hello, Goodbye".
В 2002,гурппа начала выступать перед публикой.Для своих шоу вокалист/гитарист Клайн и клавишник Курвинк взяли барабанщика Паркера Кейса,который сейчас играет в Say Anythin,затем к ним присоединились Аарон Флора и бассист Маркус Коул.
hellogoodbye играет пауэр-поп,поп-панк,рок,эмо-поп,эмо молл))
