Вот очередь дошла и до Фрэнка нашего Заппы. Давно хотел выложить для просвещения масс, да в цифровом виде мало, а на виниле разные шумы, пощелкивания и прочие неприятные артефакты, бороться с которыми я не мастак. Но полазив по сети все же сумел кое-что наскрести. По сусекам пока наскреблось следующее: Apostrophe, Freak Out и мой любимый Joe's Garage. "Гараж" вообще знаю, наверное, наизусть. Какие там запповские мощные и мгновенно узнаваемые соло! Ураган! Да звук еще гитарный офигительно вкусный: сочный, мясистый, насыщенный, тягучий и рассыпчатый одновременно... Просто сказка какая-то с шизофреническим уклоном. Впрочем, шизофрения у Заппы здоровая. Есть шизофрения обычная, банальная, то есть шизофрения, как болезнь, а есть шизофрения как тип мышления. Вот здесь как раз второй случай. С другой стороны, есть мнение, что шизофрении вообще нет, что все это выдумки советской карательной психиатрии и кое-каких западных психиатров, которым проще все, не вписывающееся в более-менее стандартные симптомы списывать на шизофрению. Примерно, как это делают участковые врачи-терапевты, пишущие в карточках «ОРВ». А там хоть насморк, хоть ангина, хоть пневмония, хоть что, им все - ОРВ. Так проще.
Впрочем, что-то я совсем не туда заехал. Будем выруливать обратно.
Из того, чего у меня еще нет, но что очень хотел бы заиметь в цифре, это Sheik Yerbouti, Zoot Allures, Bongo Fury, Grand Wazoo, Absolutely Free...
Вообще, получается слишком много, проще сказать, чего бы не хотел. Но этого сказать не могу, потому что хочу все. Наверное, все, потому что кое-чего я так до сих пор не слышал, а что-то слышал давно и почти не помню.
Значит, на первый раз выкладываю Apostrophe(') 1974 года. Joe's Garage хочу придержать на десерт. Не на сладкое, а на этакий французский сырный десерт, где мягкие пресные камамберы лежат рядом с рассыпчатым пармезаном, ароматным чеддером и удушающе вкусным рокфором. И все это ешь, смакуешь, на кусочек хрусткого багета намазываешь и не торопясь ешь...
Снова не туда занесло.
Словом, до гаража Джо, надеюсь, еще доберемся, тогда и можно будет мыслью по древу, а пока - Apostrophe(')
Ну, а за это время, может, еще чего наскребу.

At least Rod Stewart is consistent. Long accused by critics of selling his considerable interpretative talents short and playing it safe for the trappings of fame, Stewart revisits the font of his latest career revival here. But while 2002's It Had To Be You at least turned on the novelty of hearing raspy Rod the Mod tackle a slate of American pop standards with a boozy, world-weary tone that sometimes reinforced the originals' intent with trans-generational flair, the British rock icon unfortunately reverted to form a year later on this 14-track sequel. Set against the laconic, cocktail-friendly productions of vets Richard Perry and Phil Ramone, Stewart's performances seem strangely detached throughout. Even when offered the chance at some real human interaction on a pair of ill-conceived duets with Cher (who at least attempts to bring some dramatic flair to "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered") and Queen Latifah (whose recent turn in Chicago informs the title track), Stewart seems almost blissfully unaware of their presence. These are songs that virtually demand to be acted out, not phoned in. Brilliant vocal performances often reinforce the notion of "the singer, not the song;" here that old adage sounds more like a suggestion of where to place the blame for this album's disappointments.
