“Childhood”
The anxiety of classes runs by with waiting
And watching the clock
With nothing but dull things,
Then home:
Tiptoeing into the kitchen
Reaching up high for rustlings colorful wrappers
With shaking little fingers,
Finally out into the streets:
With joy and high-pitched laughter
Curiously looking at giant buildings
And making small footsteps
While clutching to mothers thumb,
And freedom:
Running chasing butterflies
On green endless fields
With grass reaching the nose,
Oh, heavy spending of time!
Of coarse games:
Playing hide-and-seek and
Tag among other gay-colored little suits
And giants. Men. Women. Men, women.
Oh, sorrow, dream, dread and burden without meaning!
And for hours to climb up and down
Swing back and forth
Spin until so dizzy on and on…
In a big kid-wonderland
Dear childhood!
Dear images slipping from us!
Like a quick sunny dream never to appear again.
