Ladies & Gentlemen - for those of you that don’t know me I’m Igor - Svetlana’s dad and on behalf of my wife – Alla and I, I would like to welcome you all here today - to celebrate the marriage of our only daughter Svetlana to Ali. As the father of the bride I have the pleasure of making the first speech!
Svetlana and Ali have worked really hard organising everything for today but your hard work has definitely paid off. I'm sure everyone here agrees that the ceremony was wonderful.
I would like to welcome you all here today as you have played an important part in the lives of Svetlana and Ali and I know that your presence here today sharing the special day it is important to them!
Ali, I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome you into our family but I’m sure you know that you have always been welcome since that first day we met. And as every Father hopes his daughter will find a smart and reliable, young man so it’s a wonderful to see Svetlana looking so happy and well today. Before I get to the toast I want to share some thoughts for both of you:
Successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person
Svetlana – when you’re wrong, say I’m sorry. When you’re right, say nothing.
Ali - Women are made to be loved, not understood.
And finally, there is no challenge in a marriage that cannot be achieved by the following three sentences.
These are:
I was wrong!
You were right!
And I love you!
So, finally if your glasses are all full can I ask you all to join me in a toast to Svetlana and Ali , the bride and Groom
