Passions initially were the kind forces of a person. For example the passion of "love" - was initially an angelic force that allowed us to aspire to God. People can only imagine how strong love can be, and now this desire forces people to take unprecedented acts. The passion of rage once was a force of kindness that would fill a person with the desire to continuously do good works.

And now after the fall from heaven, the devil corrupts our intentions and abuses our passions.
