Session Title: New (Gendered) Perspectives on Genocide

Abstract of Session:

This session brings together the recent new perspectives on genocide from philosophical, socialist, sociological, cultural perspectives that re-examine issues of gender, race, class, oppression, sexuality, including the war crime of rape. In particular, we are interested in papers that take into account the latest feminist theories on genocidal violence and new approaches to care ethics. We are also looking for presentations that deal with precursors to and the aftermath of genocide, the experiences of victims, the role of witnessing, memories of survivors. We would also like papers that examine dialogue between the new generations of perpetrator or victim/survivor groups.
