[NIS_GS:] Call for Papers/Posters Women of the Southwest
Call for Papers and Posters
22nd Annual
All University Conference on the Advancement of Women in Higher Education
at Texas Tech University
2006 Theme: "Women in the Southwest"
Conference Date: March 31, 2006

Faculty, staff, graduate students, undergraduate students, and community
members from all fields of study are invited to submit papers, projects, posters, artistic works or works-in-progress that highlight research by women, and/or about women and gender. Submissions may be related to the conference theme; however, submissions unrelated to the theme are equally invited for consideration. It is expected that all paper and poster submissions will have a related paper that details the work being presented. For artwork or other projects we expect a document detailing the work. All presenters are expected to register for the conference.

Conference Submission Procedures

1. In a single electronic document in either Word or PDF format, please include the following information:
* Cover Page, including: (a) the proposal title, (b) name, affiliation and contact information for each author (address, phone, and email address), (c) the session type preferred (i.e. a paper or poster session).
* Proposal, including: (a) an Abstract of 100 words or less, (b)
A summary of 1,000 words or less (excluding references) for use in judging
the merits of the proposal. This summary should offer a description of the work to be presented including pertinent information necessary for evaluating the quality of the proposal.

2. Email the proposal as an attachment to
all.university.conference@ttu.edu with the word SUBMISSION in the subject field

3. Proposal Submission Deadline: Friday January 27, 2006

4. Successful contributors will be notified by Monday February 13, 2006

5. Completed papers/projects must be submitted by March 15th to all.university.conference@ttu.edu in order to be published on the website, should plans for publication go forward.

Call for Student Academic Paper/Project Awards

This year the Conference will recognize two outstanding student (one
undergraduate student and one graduate student) papers from those
accepted to the conference. Awards candidates must be accepted to the
conference and submit their completed paper/project to all.university.conference@ttu.edu by Tuesday February 28, 2006. The
completed paper should be submitted with a title page including the
author's pertinent information (name, status, affiliation, and contact
information); however, the remainder of the document should be free of
reference to the author's identity so that blind review may occur. The
paper should be written using the standard style guide for the
candidate's field of study (e.g. APA, Chicago, MLA). All papers must be
double spaced, written in a standard font (i.e. Times New Roman or
Arial), and should be limited to 30 pages of text (references, tables,
appendices etc. are not included in the page count). Any questions
about these awards should be directed to Helenrose Fives at
all.university.conference@ttu.edu or by phone (806) 742-1997 ext. 307.
