21st IPSA World Congress
Call for Papers for RC 19 Panels

The Research Committee on Gender, Politics and Policy (RC 19) invites you to
submit paper proposal for the following panels:

The panels for RC19 pick up on the dimensions of representation (Yvonne
Galligan in the International Political Science Review 28-5) – who represents, what is represented and how it is represented – as a way of looking at the dilemmas of change in an era of global discontent. How can women influence politics and policy? How can politics be engendered globally? What are the new challenges of the present period of global discontent?

Panel 1: Women and Representation – who represents women?
Panel 2: Gender, Women's Interests and Representation
Panel 3: Channels and Mechanisms of Representation
Panel 4: Gender, Representation and the Dilemmas of Change

If you are interested in participating in one of these panels, please send
Caroline Andrew at candrew@uottawa.ca as soon as possible the title of your proposed paper and a brief abstract (c. 200 words).

We are also organizing a pre-conference workshop on the day before the Congress – July 11, 2009 on the theme "Opportunities and Constraints for Women in International Feminist Organizing: Institutions and Strategies" in collaboration with RC 52 (Gender, Globalization, and Democratization) and RC 7 (Women, Politics, and Developing Nations). If you are interested in presenting a paper in the pre-conference roundtable, please send Caroline Andrew (candrew@uottawa.ca) your title and a brief abstract (c. 200 words) as soon as possible. You can also send this information to the Chair of Research Committee 52 and 7.

website (www.santiago2009.org) before November 1, 2008.

The International Political Science Association will hold its 21st World
Congress in Santiago, Chile, from July 12 to 16, 2009. For more information
