Border Crossing: From Oppression to Nation

7th Annual Graduate Conference of the Departments of Foreign Languages and
Literatures, and Comparative Literature at Purdue University, West Lafayette,
Indiana, April 1-2, 2005

Overview: This topic will encompass common experiences of different nations and
people as they cross borders, both literal and metaphoric, at different periods
in time. It will include the experiences of nations ranging from conditions of
oppression to the search for a national identity.
This topic will also include the experiences of marginalized people (on the basis of politics, language, education, gender, race, religion, theater, linguistic, etc.), under the condition of oppression, while searching for an identity, and at various other stages.

Abstract: Please submit an anonymous 300 word abstract, typed, double-spaced and postmarked by February 18th, 2005. Please include a cover page with the
following: paper title, your name, e-mail address and institution address.

Presentation Format: Presentations should not exceed twenty minutes (eight
pages).
