Gender, Body and Sexuality in Europe
Conference April 29, 2006, University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
Deadline for application is Jan. 15, 2005.

The Co-ordination for Gender Studies in Denmark and the Association for Gender Research in Denmark invite proposals for the conference Gender, Body and Sexuality in Europe. As part of University of Copenhagen's academic focus area Europe in Transition, the annual gender conference in Denmark focuses on Gender, Body and Sexuality in Europe. The objective of the conference is to create space for discussions and reflections on the relations between gender, body and sexuality in Europe. During the past decades Europe has undergone major political, economic and social changes that challenge the existing cultural and social institutions.
The conference will highlight the following issues:
* Values and identities in the wake of new democracies, media and (Euro)globalization
* Gendered and sexual social conventions of everyday life in a new and diverse Europe
* Gender, identity and sexuality in the current context(s) of politicization, economic development

Please send abstract of max. one page to europa@sociology.ku.dk.
