[NIS_GS:] women and information society in Central Asia
dear moderator, could you please add this call to the list?
thank you very much!

Dear colleagues from KARAT,
we at APC WNSP (
www.apcwomen.org) are working now on a research in
Central Asia, that attempts to offer a new framework to understand
women’s empowerment within the information society, especially in the
context of the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS).
I'm currently looking for resources from countries of Central Asia that
are talking about the position of women in general, information and
communication technologies (ICTs) and policy issues in the information
society, especially in Kyrgystan, Kazachstan, and Tajikistan.
The principal question we are asking is: To what extent do women have
control over how they are represented and how can they exercise control
over the manner in which they are represented in the information
society?
Would you mind to be interviewed about this for the research (over
phone, email, yahoo messenger or skype)? (Please don't worry about not
being an ICT expert, its really about the situation on the ground :)
Do you know of any ICT projects in Central Asia?
Are there any information resources that you could share with us about
these issues?
I'll be happy to provide more details about the research and its
framework or gender and ICT issues in the context of WSIS.
I'm looking forward to input from you!
With my best wishes,
Lenka
