Churchill House's Phrasal Verb of the Day is: knock out
Definition: to defeat a person or team in a competition, so that they can no longer participate
in the competition.
(This phrasal verb has more than one meaning)
E.g.1. He knocked out the world champion on his way to the final.
E.g.2. Manchester United were knocked out of the Champions League competition.
This phrasal verb can be separated.
