Dacre: highest paid editor on Fleet Street
Daily Mail editor Paul Dacre was paid just a whisker short of £900,000 last year, making him the second highest paid director of the newspaper's parent company Daily Mail & General Trust.
He took home a whopping £899,000 last year. The 8% pay rise - which is revealed in today's DMGT's annual report and follows a 10% hike in 2002, when he was paid £834,000 - confirms his status as the highest paid editor in Fleet Street.
Mr Dacre's pay package in 2003 was made up of a £814,000 in fees and salary and £85,000 in benefits, which include his accommodation in central London as well as a motoring allowance and medical insurance...
