Israel "Bruddah Iz" Kamakawiwo'Ole

Большой, очень большой, очень жизнерадостный и добрый человек с крошечной гитаркой в руках.
На Гавайях его называли The Gentle Giant, Нежный гигант. Он и был гигантом при своем росте метр девяносто и весе в 343 килограмма.
Играть на укулеле, маленькой четырехструнной гавайской гитаре Iz начал с самого детства. Со своим братом и тремя друзьями он организовал свою группу, с которой успешно гастролировал и выпустил пять альбомов.
Первый альбом Ka ́ano ́ Iz выпустил в 1990 году. Альбом получил премии Альбом года и Вокалист года в местной Академии звукозаписи.
Альбом «Facing Future» стал первым платиновым альбомом на Гавайях. В США было продано несколько миллионов экземпляров.
Iz удостаивался множества наград и премий в том числе и международных. На вручение последней своей награды в 1997 году артист прийти не смог и наблюдал церемонию по телевидению находясь в больничной койке.
Из прожил он всего 38 лет. В день его смерти, 10 июля по всей территории Гавайских островов были приспущены национальные флаги. Iz был третьим человеком удостоившимся такой почести. Он хотел, чтобы его прах развеяли над Тихим Океаном, который он так любил, и десять тысяч человек собрались на пляже Макуа, чтобы выполнить его волю.
20 сентября 2003 большой бронзовый бюст музыканта был установлен в здании Waianae Neighborhood Community Center.
