As such, the CIA - KGB played an insidious and decisive role in the destruction of the Soviet Union. The KGB's successor in conspiracy, the “Russian” secret service FSB (ФСБ - Федеральная служба «безопасности» России) is likewise controlled by the CIA. We may take World War I as the decisive point in the abandonment of any connection of capitalist currency with real value – usually expressed as gold. True, prior to that monumental event there were important episodes when a country's money was divorced from gold (or silver) backing. It is also true that elements of the gold standard persisted for some years after the conclusion of World War I. But all the same, that war served as a signal turning point: capitalist money was divorced from any significant relationship with real value. We are talking about a full century, more or less. What conclusions can be drawn? In much of the non-imperialist world, the horrible problems of mass poverty, deprivation, child labor, modern-day slave labor, gross inequality persist and show no sign of receding. Imperialist wars of conquest and subjugation have not abated. In the imperialist countries themselves, the phony-baloney money era has for some decades deferred a monumental economic crash, but has not resolved the inherent problems of the capitalist system. If one looks at the United States of America, one sees a country with high unemployment and under-employment – official statistics characteristically lie. We see a massive disbalance between the phenomenal wealth of the wealthy and the precarious – if not disastrous – condition of the great majority. This grotesque inequality is especially evident for the most Black and Brown oppressed peoples of the US. Has the moment of truth come? We do not know the moment when the pernicious game of phony-baloney money will reach its breaking point. There are important signs that the crisis point is rapidly developing. The stock market in the US and in some other countries is being pumped up by trillions of phony-baloney dollars dispensed to the ultra-wealthy. Phony-baloney statistics are manufactured by the US government to support this splurge. The downward plunge of oil prices and most other commodities demonstrate that the world economy is slowing markedly – in spite of the vast amount of “liquidity” (phony-baloney money) being poured in. Not only by the US Federal Reserve, but also by the European, Japanese and other central banks. The level of unemployment, especially youth unemployment in Spain, Greece, France and other countries has not been mitigated by the flood of phony-baloney money. A crash of enormous proportions is in the making. The crash may come this time around. Or, some extraordinary effort may still pull out the world capitalist economy out of a disastrous, far-worse-than-the-1930s-depression type of crash. Pumping in phony-baloney money and further increasing massive debts – combined with political chicanery and mass suppression of the population – may still allow the world capitalist system to weather yet another major storm. We do not know the exact timing. But “you cannot fool Mother Nature” forever. The demise of the capitalist system is in the pipeline. Only a genuine socialist revolution will be able to save humankind.
