Dictatorship USA – Part 10 The Captive US Labor Movement “In 2013 there were 14.5 million members in the U.S., compared with 17.7 million in 1983. In 2013, the percentage of workers belonging to a union in the United States (or total labor union "density") was 11.3%, compared to 20.1% in 1983... Union membership in the private sector has fallen under 7% — levels not seen since 1932.” (Labor unions in the United States, Wikipedia) Even these extremely low numbers may be an over-estimate. Anyone familiar with life in the United States is aware of the passivity and abject “passivity” of the AFL-CIO, the main US labor federation, and the other national unions in the face of the increasing hardships of many tens of millions of American workers, their decreased pay and harsh living conditions. With the partial exception of some government workers, virtually no trade union organizing has taken place in the US for years. For all intents and purposes, the national trade union leadership remains effectively silent on social issues and about the enormous plundering by the major banks and financial houses. Worse than that, the US labor “leaders” strive mightily to discourage or even break strike actions which take place on a local level. These disgusting facts of life are clear evidence of the control of the US labor movement by the United States secret political police.
