Родилась в 1940 г. в Японии, где жила и училась до 1962 года. Затем решила продолжить свое образование в США. Начинала карьеру как внештатный сотрудник целого ряда журналов, таких как The New York Times, Newsweek, Time, Forbes, Sports Illustrated и т.д. С середины девяностых, специализируется на иллюстрировании детских книг, суперобложках к книгам фэнтези и плакатах. В "New York Times" о ее работах писали: "Иллюстрации К.И. Крафт - настоящее чудо...
