Bobble Granny Square - free crochet pattern
This is my first ever attempt at a crochet pattern. I wanted to do a bobble square but couldn't find a pattern to match what I wanted so I came up with this. I just wrote this as I made it so apologies if it makes no sense or if I've messed up my stitch count - feel free to let me know
I used a pale blue DK and a white worsted/Aran and a 5mm hook but use whatever you like
(USA crochet stitch terms used throughout)
ch = chain
Sl st = slip stitch
dc = double crochet
Yo = yarn over
Bobble = 5dc but only yo and pull through the first 2 loops, leaving the extra on your hook and you continue to do the other dc until your bobble is finished; you should now have 6 loops on your hook, yo and draw through all 6 loops ad pull to tighten a little. YouTube have loads of videos if you need more help to do this.
Finished size - approx 6 inches
With blue yarn -Ch5 - join with a sl st to first chain to form a ring.
Row 1 - *Ch2, Bobble in centre ring then sl st into centre ring to secure -make sure your bobble is in front of the sl st and tighten a little if needed*
Repeat from * to * until you have 4 bobbles.

Row 2 -Ch3 (counts as first dc) 2dc in centre ring and over/in between 2 bobbles, ch4, 3dc in centre ring, ch4, repeat until back to the start and join to first dc with sl st.
Row 3 -Sl st to first gap made by ch4 of previous rounds. Do the following stitches in the same ch 4 space -Bobble, sl st, bobble sl st. (You'll need to push your finger into each bobble to force it to the front to match the first row and tighten if needed) Ch2, and repeat in the remaining ch 4 spaces. Sl st to join to the first stitch of the round.

Row 4 -sl st to get back to the space you're just past then ch3 and 3dc in the same space, ch2, 4dc, ch2, 4dc all into next ch2 space, repeat around until you are back to the first ch2 space corner (you have 4dc in there at the moment so do 4dc, ch2 to finish the corner and slp st to top of last dc.
Row 5 -sl st to get back to the space you're just past again and Ch3 and put 3dc in corner space you are in. ch1, and into the next ch2 space do a bobble, sl st, ch4, bobble, ch1 then 4dc,ch1,4dc in corner. Repeat to the corner you started in and finish the corner with 4 dc, ch1 and join to first dc

Row 6 - Ch3, 3dc in corner space. ch1, bobble in next space (just before the bobble of the previous round) ch1, bobble in ch4 space above the previous bobbles, slp st, ch1, bobble in next sp,sl st, ch1, bobble in next space (just after the bobble of the previous round) ch1 and 4dc,ch1,4dc in the corner - Repeat to the corner you started in and finish the corner with 4 dc, ch1 and join to first dc and fasten off.

Row 7 - Join white yarn with a sl st in any corner space. 3ch, 2dc in this corner space, 3dc in next space, 3dc in space between first 2 bobbles, 3dc in between next 2 bobbles, 3dc in next space, 3dc, ch1, 3dc in corner space - Repeat to the first corner you started in and finish the corner with 3dc and join to first dc and fasten off. I only did 3dc and didn't use any chains between stitches (apart from the corners) as it looked better without on mine plus matched the other squares in my blanket - but do what works on yours.

Finished! Pinch all the bobbles to make sure they stand out and weave in ends.
