История дружбы, которая осталась в искусстве: американка Миллер познакомились с Пикассо в Париже, куда она приехала из Нью-Йорка, чтобы продолжить свои занятия фотографией. Миллер вообще не собиралась ограничивать себя чем-то одним. В Америке она появлялась на обложках Vogue и других глянцевых изданий в качестве модели, во Франции стала ассистенткой, а затем и музой Мана Рэя: ее можно увидеть и в кадре, и за кадром, когда она помогала Ману Рэю с его знаменитыми сюрреалистическими экспериментами. В 40-е годы Миллер отправилась на фронт, чтобы быть военным фотокорреспондентом, аккредитованным от Vogue, и поставлять в журнал свидетельства высадки союзников в Нормандии, освобождения концентрационных лагерей и других сюжетов, сейчас уже прочно вошедших в историю фотографии.

В период своей жизни в Париже Ли Миллер как раз и подружилась с Пабло Пикассо, впервые встретившись с ним в 1937 году. Общение быстро переросло в творческую дружбу: Миллер художника фотографировала — он ее рисовал.

Их дружба продлилась 36 лет, до смерти Пабло Пикассо в 1973 году, и за это время Миллер успела сфотографировать его больше тысячи раз — и как художника, и как человека.
