Rune Study: Uruz
Okay. So my day with Uruz (Pronounces oo-rose) was exceedingly powerful. Uruz translates to Aurochs. The Auroch was a large bull-like creature found in northern Europe. They were the source of skin, meat, and milk for most of Europe and parts of North Africa for years. They were an important part of all culture and a symbol of prosperity. Uruz is the horns of the Auroch being turned downward in submission to the needs of the greater community.
For me, the day that I spent with this rune, I sacrificed my own needs, submitting myself to someone else to take me for the healing that *he* needed. Regardless of my own feelings. Sacrifice for the greater good seems to be the message here.
Uruz, while representing the sacrifices also represents the primal power of earth. The Auroch was a large and powerful creature. It probably was no easy feat to take one down.
