Она специализировалась на изображении цветов, растений, фруктов и прочих ботанических вкусностей. Марианна родилась в семье преуспевающего землевладельца. В детстве пыталась обучаться пению, но вскорости поняла, что ее настоящая страсть – это рисование. После смерти матери ей пришлось с отцом много путешествовать. Это сподвигло ее к изучению флоры заморских стран с помощью своих рисунков. В коллекции ее работ запечатлены различные экзотические обитатели природы Канады, США, Ямайки, Бразилии, Японии, Новой Зеландии, Тенерифе, Борне, Явы и Цейлона.
