[показать]You will need:
  • pearl or metallic clay
  • tissue blade
  • roller or pasta machine

STEP ONE:
Condition your clay, and tint it if you want. Since I used white pearl, I tinted mine with some Fimo plum clay for a nice soft purple.

STEP TWO:
After conditioning, form the clay into a snake. Don't make the snake too long or thick.

STEP THREE:
Feed your snake horizontally through your pasta machine, using its thickest setting. Fold the sheet in half and put it through the pasta machine again. Do this at least 10 times to help the mica line up. The more you roll it, the shinier the clay will get.


STEP FOUR:
[показать]Cut off a section from the bottom of your clay sheet. Using a thinner setting, roll this piece through your pasta machine in the same direction as the whole sheet. Then cut this piece into a long rectangle about 1 inch wide by 6 inches long. This will form the dull part of your jellyroll.


[показать]STEP FIVE:
Cut the rest of the clay sheet into small sections about 1/8 inch wide and 5 inches long.

Lay each cut piece on top of the next until you have a stack about 1 inch tall by 5 inches long.


[показать]STEP SEVEN:
Lay this stack sideways on your long strip and gently pat down so the clay sticks together. Do it gently so you don't disturb the mica in the clay.


[показать]STEP EIGHT:
Gently flatten one end, so it will be easier to roll.

Starting with the flattened end, roll the clay into a jellyroll.

Once you have your jellyroll, let it rest for about a hour or place it in the freezer for 5-10 minutes to get it cool.


[показать] I've found pearl clay to be somewhat sticky when warm and then it doesn't slice well.


[показать]STEP ELEVEN:
Cut slices and very delicately put them onto a piece of matching clay. Be very careful when handling the slices. Too much handling will disturb the mica and you may lose some of the design.


[показать]STEP TWELVE:
Run the clay through your pasta machine to smooth out the sheet. Do this ONLY ONCE so you don't lose the design.

Use the clay to create or cover various objects!
