Refer to Basic Sock Recipe for full instructions.
3 colours of yarn used: base colour (black), and 2 contrast colours (orange and cream).
2–2.5mm needles and 2-ply wool.

1. Cast on 72 sts with base colour.
2. Divide equally between 4 needles on first round (18 sts per needle).
3. Work cuff following The Notches method (see Cuff Techniques).
4. Continue with leg, following chart pattern. Read chart from right to left and repeat chart twice.
5. Continue with base colour only and work 30 rounds straight.
6. Work heel with base colour, noting the variation in location of right and left heel flaps, as the heel part of each sock is knitted on different needles (see Basic Sock Recipe).
7. Work gusset with base colour.
8. Work foot with base colour.
9. Work toe with base colour, following Banded Toe Cap and Finishing method (see Basic Sock Recipe).
