Анна Валайе-Костер (21 декабря 1744 – 28 февраля 1818) французская художница 18-го века, известная своими работами в жанре натюрморта. Она добилась славы и признания очень рано, Vallayer-Костер выставила свои первые натюрморты с цветами в 1775 году и четыре года спустя она стала пользоваться покровительством Марии-Антуанетты. С ее помощью она получила место в Лувре в 1781 году что было необычно для женщин-художниц.

Анна Валайе-Костер родилась в 1744 году на берегах реки Бьевр во Франции, в семье королевского ювелира. В 1754 году семья Анны переехала в Париж. Валайе-Костер, по всей видимости, не училась в профессиональной художественной школе, но обучалась частным образом у своего отца, а также у специалиста по ботанике Madeleine Basseport и у знаменитого художника-мариниста Жозефа Верне.

Это было совсем непросто - понравиться королеве. Была Мария-Антуанетта невероятно капризна, взбалмошна, расточительна, но, по общему признанию, обладала хорошим вкусом и весьма недурно разбиралась в искусстве. И в людях, кстати, тоже. А потому и неудивительно, что, высоко оценив неординарную живопись уже успевшей прославиться во Франции Анны Валайе-Костер, увидев, как мила, тактична, отлично воспитана и умна эта молодая женщина, королева приблизила ее, сделав своей придворной художницей.

Присутствовала королева, даже была свидетельницей, на свадьбе (поздней свадьбе - в 37 лет) Анны Валайе и Жана-Пьера Костера, преуспевающего юриста и адвоката богатейшего банкирского дома Лорен из Лотарингии.
Брак был на редкость удачным - в муже Анна нашла и понимание, и заботу, и нежность, и любовь.
