Getting Started
These instructions are for uploading your patterns as free PDF files for others to download. If you would like to use Ravelry as a store to sell your PDF pattern files, click here for specific information on that feature.
If you don’t have a pattern in the Ravelry database yet, or your patterns are listed in the database but not connected to your profile, please start with this Designers Overview wiki guide! It has all the information you need to get started. There’s even a special tutorial section on adding your patterns to Ravelry.
Once you have at least one pattern in the Ravelry database, and it’s connected to your Ravelry profile, you’re ready to set up your Ravelry store and upload your .pdf pattern!

Account Set-up and Store Management
After publishing your first pattern to the Ravelry database, you’ll see the option to add the pattern to your pattern store. Click on that button if you’d like to add your pattern right away:

If you want to add the .pdf to an existing pattern entry, you can do so from the Manage Store tab that you’ll see on your Designer page:

Adding a Free PDF Pattern
If this is your first pattern:
When you click on the “Manage Store” tab, the Pattern Store Terms of Use and Pricing window will pop up. Please review these terms of use and the fees carefully. You will need to agree to the terms before you are able to distribute patterns on Ravelry.

Once you have agreed to the terms:
If you just completed the pattern entry form on Ravelry and clicked the “add to my pattern store” button from there, you’ll be taken directly to the pattern’s information page in your Pro account. You can skip to the “completing your free pattern’s information” section below. :)
If you or another user added the pattern page to Ravelry earlier and you are not coming directly from the pattern form, click on the “patterns” link in the Pattern Sales section of your Pro account:
Select the pattern you want to offer as a Ravelry download from the drop-down menu, and click the “add to store” button.

Completing Your Free Pattern’s Information and Activating your pattern
To set up a free Ravelry pattern download, you just need to tick the “free” ticky box and click the “save changes” button, upload your pattern .pdf, and then hit the “activate product” button. If you wish, you can also set your own item number in the item number field but that isn’t required.

An activated pattern will have an Active note in your Pro area:

Your pattern’s Ravelry page will now have a box with the “free download” button:

Tip: Watch your patterns for flags/notes on the editors tab of your designer profile page. Ravelers may leave notes about information on the pattern page itself or even ask questions about the pattern.
