This ornate peacock barge is an ink stand. It is part of the exhibition 'Splendours of the Subcontinent' currently on display at The Queen's Gallery, Edinburgh.
This beautiful gilt wood cradle is lined with red silk and carved with coats of arms and foliage. It was for Princess Alice, Queen Victoria's third child, who was born on this day in 1843.
