Yeah, the whole sandal is crocheted, including the single crochet sole! An ankle crochet chain strap keeps the crochet motif and heel secure.

Finished Size: XXS (XS, S, M, L) to fit shoe sizes 1 - 2 (3 - 4, 5 - 6, 7 - 8, 9 - 10). Girl's sample made in size XS using Old Navy brand flip-flops size 3 to 4. Woman's sample made in size L using Old Navy brand flip-flops size 10. Length from heel to toe = about 8¾ (9¼, 9¾, 10, 10½)". Width across toe (widest point) = about 3.5 (35⁄8, 3¾, 4, 4)".

Yarn: American Hemp Hemp Twine 20 lb test strength (1 mm) (100 % hemp fiber; 430 feet (130 m)/3½ oz [100 g]): 2 (2, 3, 3, 3) balls. Girl's sample shown in red. Twine distributed by Hemp Traders. Woman's sample shown in natural.

Hook Size: B/1 (2.25 mm). Metal hook recommended for sturdiness. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Notions: St marker (m); one pair of inexpensive flip-flops in proper size with ½" uniformly thick soles and straps removed, in a color similar to twine; sewing pins; metal yarn needle; one 2.8 fl oz tube of 100% silicone rubber sealant; latex or nitrile gloves; adhesive spreader for vinyl flooring (available at hardware stores in the flooring section-a piece of plastic with a handle on one end and a serrated edge on the other. It is used to spread the rubber sealant evenly onto the bottom of the shoe. I used Homax brand 3" spreader with a 3⁄16" tooth).

Gauge: 19 sts and 22 rnds = 4" in sc in the rnd.
