allroyaladmin asked: ... they could have received titles of noble rank (the rank of their father, had HM given their father a title) but they would not have been given Royal or Princely titles (HRH or Prince/Princess). Anne did do this so that they could lead a more "normal" life, but unfortunately they weren't eligible for them by birth regardless.

Thanks for this :) x

allroyaladmin asked: Hi, I just wanted to add a point to the answer you gave about why Anne's children have no titles. HRH status and "Princely Titles" (prince/princess) is only granted to the children of a monarch, and their male-line grand-children (so the children of the monarch's sons). Because Anne is, obviously, female the HRH and Princely Titles were not immediately conveyed. You are correct that when Anne got married HM offered her husband a title (Duke or Earl) & the children could have held titles (#1)

Anonymous asked: If I may add to your answer to the anon who asked about Zara not having a title. Even if Anne had agreed to a title for Zara, she still would not have been HRH Princess Zara. Those titles are only reserved for Male line grandchildren of the monarch. The queen could have given her a lesser title, but like you said, Anne wanted her to lead a normal life.

Thanks for this information! It’s true, you really do learn something new every day! xxx

1/6/2012 . 1 note . Reblog

Anonymous asked: Besides the Princess Royal requesting her children to not have titles, I believe they are not automatically entitled to have them anyway as they are grandchildren in the female line, and British royal titles currently only pass through the male line.

Thanks for this piece of information!! :) xxx

The back of Queen Elizabeth II’s head. 1927.

Her mother, then the Duchess of York, made to travel for an extended period of time following the birth of her eldest daughter, requested photographs be taken of her from every angle so she could see her development whilst she was away.

1/6/2012 . 93 notes . Reblog

Anonymous asked: Do you know why it is that Zara Phillips's title is simply "Miss Zara Phillips" and Princess Beatrice's is "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice of York"? Both are granddaughters of the Queen and it is very unlikely that either will ever reign as Queen, so why doesn't Zara get a HRH title? I understand that titles have to stop somewhere, but I'm curious to know where and how it is determined.

Hello! Thanks for the question! :)

The reason that Zara Phillips doesn’t hold a title is because when she and Peter Phillips were born their mum (Princess Anne) requested that they didn’t acquire a royal title.

Perhaps Princess Anne wanted her daughter and son to have a more relatively private life.

2. The Queen laughing the whole incident off.

3. Little Prince Charles!

historyofthemonarchy:

THE CROWN JEWELS

The Crown Jewels are a collection of major historical royal items that go back centuries. They are housed in The Tower of London where they have been since the 14th century and guarded by Yeomen Warders.

The jewels were once stored in Westminster Abbey but were moved when the abbey was found to be unsafe. The current display collection of The Crown Jewels was opened to the public in 1994 by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and each year sees millions of visitors.

The collection contains various items related to the coronations of Kings and Queens and items belonging to Prince Consorts and Princes of Wales. Much of the Regalia (the historical items that are worn/used during a coronation ceremony) are still used to this day which is a feature that distinguishes the British Monarchy from others in Europe.

The oldest item in the collection is the 12th century Anointing Spoon which is used to pour holy oil over the Sovereign’s head during the coronation. Much of the original Regalia was destroyed or melted down after the execution of King George I during the civil war.  It was in 1660 that King George II ordered the creation of new jewels based on the design of the lost ones. This cost a massive 13,000 pounds.

Queen Victoria;

Journal Entry: Monday 10th February 1840

Place of Writing: Windsor Castle.

Her Wedding day: ”Dearest Albert repeated everything very distinctly. I felt so happy when the ring was put on, and by(my precious)Albert.”After looking about our rooms for a little while, I went and changed my gown, and then came back to his small sitting room where dearest Albert was sitting and playing; he had put on his Windsor coat; he took me on his knee, and kissed me and was so dear and kind. We had our dinner in our sitting room; but I had such a sick headache that I could eat nothing, and was obliged to lie down in the middle blue room for the remainder of the evening, on the sofa; but, ill or not, I never, never spent such an evening!! My dearest dearest dear Albert sat on a footstool by my side, and his excessive love and affection gave me feelings of heavenly love and happiness, I never could have hoped to have felt before! He clasped me in his arms, and we kissed each other again and again! His beauty, his sweetness and gentleness,- really how can I ever be thankful enough to have such a Husband! - At ½ p.10 I went and undressed and was very sick, and at 20 m. p.10 we both went to bed; (of course in one bed), to lie by his side, and in his arms, and on his dear bosom, and be called by names of tenderness, I have never yet heard used to me before - was bliss beyond belief! Oh! this was the happiest day of my life! - May God help me to do my duty as I ought and be worthy of such blessings!.” -
