В католичестве есть традиция выставлять останки святых: кости, скелеты, мумии напоказ, богато их украшать.
Реликвии в церквах с незапамятных времен привлекали толпы посетителей, это давало очень ощутимый доход.
Роскошно одетые скелеты, буквально усыпанные драгоценностями, производят жуткое впечатление, будто смотришь костюмированный фильм ужасов.
