Text of Song:
Eleven Crystal Angels / Elyse Saunders
Time to wake the angels up, they've had a year to sleep and rest their wings.
And hang them from the Christmas tree from golden strings
There’s two hundred decorations in a box that’s loosely packed
With eleven crystal angels neatly wrapped
I remember, I was three the first year mama brought the angels home
Old enough to hang an angel all alone
I thought my heart was broken when my fragile angel fell
Before eleven crystal angels, there were twelve.
Eleven crystal angels will shine tonight Twinklingsee-through wings from strings of Christmas lights
Mama told me not to cry, not every angel gets to fly.
So, “It was meant to be, the missing angel would be me.” Created by the hand of God, one angel would be flesh and blood
And eleven crystal angels
There’s a rock-hard Santa Claus
That someone made for us from gingerbread
Some crocheted snowflakes and a toothpick Santa sled Candy cane in cellophane and strings of beaded glass
But every year, I save the best for last.
Eleven crystal angels will shine tonight
Twinkling see-through wings from strings of Christmas lights
Mama told me not to cry, not every angel gets to fly.
So, “It was meant to be, the missing angel would be me.”
Created by the hand of God, one angel would be flesh and blood
And eleven crystal angels
