Meli dreams of being an actress in period dramas

 Nine year old Meli, who is battling leukaemia, met actor and heartthrob Ben Barnes, on the set of the film The Picture of Dorian Gray which Ben is currently filming at The Royal Naval College, Greenwich, London.

Starlight asked Ben if he would help realise little Meli’s dream which is to appear as an extra on the film set of a period drama. Ben said, "It was a joy to have lively Meli on set and help grant her wish.”

Ben is playing the lead part in this new film currently in production and spent part of the day showing Meli around the period set, introducing the little girl and her family to all the crew including director Oliver Parker and his fellow actors including Colin Firth.

Meli had a fantastic time chatting to everyone and was able to swap acting stories with Ben as they have both appeared in the musical stage production of Bugsy Malone.

Meli said, "I really had a great time with Ben who gave me some acting tips whilst I rode around in his horse and carriage. He also invited me and my family for tea with him in his trailer. Before that he showed me round the set and I got to meet Colin firth too – it really was a dream come true for me.”
