Crochet a Red Rose Kitchen Set that is both pretty and functional.

FINISHED SIZES
Dishcloth is 8" x 9"
Towel is 13 1/2" x 16"
Soap Cover is 6" tall

MATERIALS

* Worsted cotton yarn: 3 1/2 oz. red, 3 1/2 oz. white
* Desired size button
* Crochet stitch markers
* Sewing needle and thread
* Tapestry needle
* G crochet hook or hook size needed to obtain gauge
* H double-ended hook or hook size needed to obtain gauge

GAUGES
With H double-ended hook, 4 sts = 1"; 4 rows in pattern = 1".
With G crochet hook, 4 sc = 1"; 4 sc rows = 1".

BASIC STITCHES
Ch, sl st, sc, hdc, dc, tr

SPECIAL STITCH
For dc lp, yo, pull up lp in next ch or st, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook.

NOTES
Read General Instructions below before beginning pattern.
Fasten off colors when no longer needed.

DISHCLOTH
Row 1: With H double-ended hook, and red, ch 32, pull up lp in second ch from hook, pull up lp in each ch across, turn. (32 lps on hook)

Row 2: With white, work lps off hook, do not turn.

Row 3: Ch 2 (counts as first st), skip next horizontal bar (see illustration), 3 dc lps (see Special Stitch) in top strand of next horizontal bar, (skip next 2 horizontal bars, 3 dc lps in top strand of next horizontal bar) across to last 2 horizontal bars, skip next horizontal bar, pull up lp in top strand of last horizontal bar, ch 2, (counts as last st), turn. Row 4: With red, work lps off hook, do not turn.

Row 5: Ch 1, skip first vertical bar, pull up lp in top strand of each horizontal bar across, turn.

Rows 6-28: Repeat rows 2-5 consecutively, ending with row 4.

Row 29: Ch 1, skip first vertical bar, sl st in top strand of each horizontal bar across. Fasten off.

Edging
Rnd 1: Working around outer edge, with G hook, join red with sc in first st of last row, sc in same st, evenly space 21 sc across to last st, 2 sc in last st; working in ends of rows, evenly space 22 sc across; working in starting ch on opposite side of row 1, 2 sc in first ch, evenly space 21 sc across to last ch, 2 sc in last ch; working in ends of rows, evenly space 22 sc across, join with sl st in first sc. (94 sc made)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, ch 3, skip next st, (sc in next st, ch 3, skip next st) around, join. Fasten off.

TOWEL
Row 1: With H double-ended hook and red, ch 50, pull up lp in second ch from hook, pull up lp in each ch across, turn. (50 lps on hook)

Rows 2-35: Repeat rows 2-5 of Dishcloth consecutively, ending with row 3.

Row 36: With red, pull through one lp on hook, (yo, pull through 3 lps on hook) across to last 2 lps, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook, turn.

Row 37: For top, with G hook, ch 1, sc in first st, sc in each st across, turn. (26 sc)

Row 38: Ch 3, skip next 2 sts, dc in next st, (skip next st, dc in next st) across, turn. (13 dc)

Row 39: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 40: Ch 1, sc first 2 sts tog, sc in next 3 sts, (sc next 2 sts tog) 2 times, sc in each st across, turn. (10 sc)

Rows 41–55: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 56: Ch 1, sc in first 4 sts; for buttonhole, ch 2, skip next 2 sts; sc in last 4 sts, turn.

Row 57: Ch 1, sc in each st and in each ch across, turn. (10 sc)

Rows 58–59: Ch 1, sc first 2 sts tog, sc in each st across to last 2 sts, sc last 2 sts tog, turn. (8, 6) At end of last row, do not turn.

Rnd 60: Working around outer edge, in ends of rows and in sts, ch 1, sc in first row, sc in each row across to next dc row, 2 sc in dc row, mark last st made, evenly space 27 more sc across; working in starting ch on opposite side of row 1, 2 sc in first ch, evenly space 31 sc across to last ch, 2 sc in last ch; working in ends of rows, evenly space 27 sc across to next dc row, sc in dc row, mark last st made, sc in same dc row, sc in each row and each st around, join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

Row 61: Working in rows, for bottom trim, join red with sl st in first marked st, remove marker, (ch 3, skip next st, sl st in next st) across ending in next marked st, remove marker. Fasten off. Sew button in place as shown in photo.

SOAP COVER
Rnd 1: With G hook and white, ch 10, 2 sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 7 chs, 5 sc in last ch; working on opposite side of ch, sc in next 7 chs, 3 sc in next ch, join with sl st in first sc. (24 sc made)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, (hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, tr in next st, 2 dc in next st, dc in next st, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st, 2 sc in each of next 2 sts), 2 sc in next st; repeat between ( ), join. (38 sts)

Rnd 3: Working this rnd in back lps (see illustration), ch 1, sc in each st around; do not join rnds, mark first st of each rnd. [показать]
Rnds 4–21: Sc in each st around. At end of rnd 21, join with sl st in first sc.

Rnd 22: Working this rnd in back lps, ch 3, dc in each st around, join with sl st in top of ch-3.

Rnd 23: (Ch 6, skip next st, sl st in next st) around, join with sl st in joining sl st of last rnd. Fasten off. For tie, with red, ch 55. Fasten off. Weave through dc of rnd 22. Tie ends in bow at front.

Rose (make 2)
Row 1: With G hook and red, ch 30, dc in third ch from hook, (ch 1, skip next ch, 2 dc in next ch) across leaving last ch unworked, turn. (28 dc made)

Row 2: (Sl st in next 2 dc, 5 dc in next ch-1 sp) across to last 2 dc, sl st in last 2 dc. Leaving 12" for sewing, fasten off.

Roll piece to shape like a Rose, sew 12" end through sts on row 1 to secure.

Sew Roses to center front of Cover as shown in photo.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

To draw up a lp, insert hook in designated lp, bar or ch, yo, draw lp through (see illustration A), leaving lp on hook. [показать]

To turn, rotate hook 180 degrees and slide all lps to opposite end (see illustration C). Do not turn unless otherwise stated. [показать]

To work lps off hook when adding a new color, with new color, place slip knot on hook (see illustration D), draw slip knot through one lp on hook (see illustration E), (yo, draw through 2 lps on hook) across. [показать]

Last lp remaining on hook at end of row is first vertical bar of next row.

To work lps off hook with a color already in use, pick up color from row below, yo, draw through one lp on hook (see illustration F), (yo, draw through 2 lps on hook) across. [показать]

To end a new color that is no longer needed, work across the row as stated and cut yarn leaving a long end (see illustration G); secure the end temporarily by tying to an adjacent yarn end, or permanently by weaving back through an inch or so on the row before. [показать]

When working through the horizontal bar, insert the hook under the top lp of the horizontal bar only unless otherwise stated (see illustration H).
