Dear Imaginal Cells and Cultural Creatives,

Slaaaaap! Thanks, We Needed That. |
I saw great opportunities in combining my efforts with the likes of Deepak Chopra, Gregg Braden, Barbara Marx Hubbard, Jean Houston, Lynne McTaggart and Jack Canfield among many others. Our collective vision of pursuing a sustainable, harmonious life on this planet was predicated on our efforts to unite our vast tribe of “followers” into a single coherent and powerful voice. Toward that end, our “Evolutionary Leaders” (EL’s) group is actively engaged in reaching out to the public so that we can open hearts and build bridges among people of diverse beliefs and backgrounds.
Recently, one of our members, Andrew Harvey, in arguing his case for resigning from the EL group, claimed that our efforts were fraught with “delusion, magical thinking and denial.” His critique was echoing a call for action sponsored by Nancy Steinbeck (heir to famous John Steinbeck activist family). Steinbeck slammed the EL’s on the basis of a Sacred Activism phone conference hosted by Barbara Marx Hubbard, Gregg Braden and Andrew Harvey last month (a call I missed while abroad in the UK). Her antagonistic view is predicated on the fact that she is “working in the trenches” to assuage “the real problems....poverty, prejudice, incarceration and mental illness.”
Steinbeck claims that the EL’s mission is “...delusional, outrageous and insulting,” and that only true spiritual evolution will come from the courage to face things as they are … to become brave warriors, willing to fight oppression on a personal level, while learning to survive in a world devoid of the comforts that feed hubris and denial.”
Steinbeck and Harvey further criticize the EL’s by stating that our intentions to make conscious change fly in the face of the prognostications and wisdom of ancient traditions as voiced by their present knowledge keepers. Knowledge that infers it is too late to make a difference.
They are completely correct in their assessment that “corporations and governments will not listen to our demands for peace, clean energy, or sustainability because they are determined to rape every resource and person on the planet who does not belong to their aristocracy.” The revolution they predict will not be full of love and light, but will be “bloody and excruciatingly painful.”
In their militant activism, they accused the EL’s of peddling snake oil to assuage the masses. And then ask, “Is it cowardice or greed that drives you (EL’s) to prop up the corpse instead of urging people to accept this harsh, new reality?”
Clearly, the insight offered by Harvey, Steinbeck and their followers, is that the progressive evolutionaries on this planet are dividing into two camps: “The get on the streets and fight the man” group and the “Let’s take the higher ground” group. Such a division is profoundly disempowering to the mission of evolution that both entities are pursuing.
SO, WHERE DO I STAND ON THIS ISSUE?
Firstly, let’s give credit to Harvey’s and Steinbeck’s charge that the EL’s have soft-peddled the serious plight of today’s world. Indeed, the present demise of the world order does represent a dangerous and unpleasant rite of evolutionary passage.
Yes, the EL’s should be more vocal in bringing the plight of today’s crises to the attention of an intentionally misguided public. Knowledge is power and certainly the public’s lack of knowledge is profoundly disempowering and thwarting our evolution.
Yes, people should be outraged at the current path of self-destruction and extinction that we are treading. Only with complete transparency will we be able to chart a more viable future humanity.
However, I am not promoting that we “arm ourselves to the teeth and go out and get the bastards!”
If Harvey and Steinbeck were familiar with my story in Spontaneous Evolution, they would recognize that trying to “fix” today’s world by repairing the system is somewhat of a waste of time. Simply, because the current institutions (politics, economy, education, and healthcare among others) and their mission are the cause of our pending extinction. As called for in Steve’s and my book, our evolution is dependent upon the collapse of our current society with the opportunity of rebuilding a new world based on a sustainable foundation that is in harmony with the planet.
Quantum physics emphasizes a fundamental truth: the “observer creates the world.” If we put our energy into fighting the system, we are actually feeding the problem. As Spontaneous Evolution emphasizes, we must step outside of the current world situation and start living into a new world view. This can only come about when the proposed “new world view” becomes a concept that is instilled into the hearts and minds of the public.
Hence the primary directive of both Spontaneous Evolution and the EL’s is to offer an awareness of how we have been systematically programmed to be disempowered and how we can educate and rewrite our consciousness to support a new evolutionary path.
The accusation that I, as a member of the EL’s, am misleading people to believe we are on the edge of “imminent Rapture and rainbow bridges” is pure BS (i.e., “Belief System). My message is and has been that we are indeed facing perilous times. I have mentioned in previous correspondence that Margaret and I are actively preparing for a breakdown in structure and a loss of services. We are storing food, water and seeds for our indeterminate future.
But have I locked myself into a “survival shelter” and bought guns and ammo to fight the “enemy?” No, for everyday I dedicate myself to “spreading the good news” about the new science of evolution. Simply because of the fact that, until the population is informed about our creative potential, we are all the enemy and contributing to our self-destruction.
Every individual that detaches from the current version of civilization and embarks on the new path described in Spontaneous Evolution, brings us one step closer to realizing our positive future.
WE HAVE A CHOICE
We can either grab the AK-47 and march in the streets or we can be models of the future we seek. I prefer to emulate Ghandi rather than Sylvester Stallone. What’s your choice??
Dear evolutionaries, I ask that you please keep your hearts and minds focused on the beautiful future that lies before us!
With Love and Light,
Bruce
