When Lindsay Goodwin left a full-ride academic scholarship just 10 years ago to instead pursue a classical painting degree at art school, she surely had a few people questioning the soundness of such an idea, even herself. But today, she is in the forefront of the art industry with awards and accolades from all of the country’s leading art magazines, galleries and industry sources. She would have been the last person to expect to make a successful career out of becoming a classical oil painter in the 21st century and yet her paintings would be selling for thousands of dollars before she was 23 years old.
Today at the age of 28, she travels throughout Europe studying the grand-scale architecture of the opulent opera houses down to the humblest of cobblestone cafes finding inspiration for her alla prima oil paintings. Collectors seek out her work for such timeless scenes as intimate restaurant interiors with glittering glassware, or bustling kitchens with chefs busily whisking their copper pots.
