Всё смешалось в творческой топке Linkin Park - хип-хоп старой школы, традиционный классический рок и электронные вибрации. И родилась из этого сплава калифорнийская команда, играющая nu metal и на первых порах называвшая себя Xero.
Дело было в 1996 году, началось все с четырех школьных товарищей, которые собирались и музицировали в свое удовольствие после уроков. К вокалисту Майку Шиноде (Mike Shinoda) (19 лет), барабанщику Робу Бурдону (Rob Bourdon) (17 лет), гитаристу Брэду Дельсону (Brad Delson) (19 лет) и диджею Джозефу Хану (DJ Joseph Hahn) (19 лет) вскоре присоединился вокалист Честер Беннингтон (Chester Bennington), с которым экипаж был укомплектован и готов к отплытию. Осталось определиться с названием. Забраковав Xero, четверка решает стать Hybrid Theory. Над первым альбомом "Hybrid Theory" (вышел в октябре 2000 г.) вместе с группой работали Dust Brothers, Ян Хорнбек (Ian Hornbeck), Скотт Козиоль (Scott Koziol) и продюсер Дон Гилмор (Don Gilmore) (отвечавший за саунд Pearl Jam и Eve 6). Взрывная, эклектичная смесь стилей - metal, hip-hop, industrial, pop - поражала даже на фоне Korn и Limp Bizkit, пионеров подобных экспериментов. Сингл "One Step Closer" получил бешеную ротацию на радио, благодаря чему в ноябре 2000 года альбом дебютировал в американском Тор 20. К этому времени решил вернуться в лоно семьи покинувший было своих товарищей бас-гитарист Phoenix, участник самых первых сессий.
Квинтет становится секстетом, а вокруг группы начинается форменная Linkin'иномании. Альбом "Hybrid Theory" добирается до 5 строки рейтинга продаж, а новый сингл "In The End" становится вторым в чарте. Первый же альбом приносит команде и первый урожай наград, среди которых сразу оказывается Grammy. На церемонии награждения 2002 года песня "Crawling" удостоилась высшего музыкального трофея в номинации "лучшее выступление в жанре хард-рок".
Ведущие музыкальные издания мира отозвались на появление "Hybrid Theory" медоточивыми рецензиями. Английский ежемесячник "Q Magazine" включил альбом в список «100 величайших альбомов всех времен». «Абсолютно невероятный дебют», - написал обозреватель "Melody Maker". Группа не знает отбоя от концертных приглашений, объезжает полмира, не обходя стороной ведущие американские и европейские рок-фестивали, в том числе самый грандиозный из тяжелых аттракционов - Ozzfest. Овчинка стоила выделки - общий тираж альбома на сегодняшний день перевалил за 15 миллионов.
В начале января 2002 группа издала долгожданный сборник клипов в форматах VHS и DVD. Кассета представляет шесть видеоработ Linkin Park, а DVD включает также интервью, подборку концертных снимков и два живых трека. А уже в конце месяца они отправляются в большой американский Projekt Revolution Tour, в который берут с собой Cypress Hill и nu-metal группу Adema.
В июле 2002 года Linkin Park еще раз привлекли внимание к своему и без того горячему релизу и выпустили диск "Reanimation", сборник ремиксов на треки "Hybrid Theory". Майк Шинода пригласил для «ремиксации» лучших хип-хоп продюсеров - Kutmasta Kurt, Alchemist, Cheapshot, X-ecutioners, Evidence и Jewbacca. В числе приглашенных вокалистов отметились Джонатан Дэвис (Jonathan Davis; фронтмен Korn), Аарон Льюис (Aaron Lewis; Staind), инди-рэпперы Aceyalone, Rasco, Planet Asia и Chali 2na. В качестве би-сайда изданы также треки, не попавшие на "Hybrid Theory".
В конце 2002 года приходит время поработать над чем-нибудь новеньким. Новенькое не заставит себя долго ждать и уже в марте 2003 года фаны получили новый альбом Linkin Park. Второй полноформатник группы получил название Linkin Park "Meteora". Своим появлением на свет он обязан тем многочисленным незабываемым впечатлениям, которые подарили группе два года почти непрерывных гастролей. Музыканты до сих пор с восхищением рассказывают о знаменитых греческих монастырях, построенных беглыми христианскими монахами на вершинах остроконечных скал. «Название "Meteora" скорее имеет отношение не к музыке, а отражает величие и красоту этих грандиозных памятников, ставших для нас бесценным источником вдохновения», - говорит Брэд Дельсон.
В поддержку релиза группа провела обширное летнее турне, включившись в супер-гастроль «Summer Sanitarium Tour», где выступала в обной обойме с Metallica и Limp Bizkit.
Принцип "все новое - это хорошо забытое старое" в применении к музыке сегодня можно видоизменить. Все новое - это не обязательно хорошо забытое, но непременно хорошо перемешанное старое. Правильно смешивая ингредиенты, можно создать даже бомбу.

Linkin Park используют Special Fx и Fudge, чтобы окрасить свои волосы.

Майк на половину японец.
Майк получил высшее образование в Pasadena Art College по специальности- дизайн.
Он был силен в иллюстрации, но усердно изучал графический дизайн.
Сразу после колледжа он стал работать по специальности.
Изображение на обложке альбома "Hybrid Theory" нарисовал Майк.
Майк родом из Agoura,CA, но сейчас он живет в LA.
Он родился 11.02.77.
Майк учился в Agoura high school.
Майк и Бред впрервые встретились, когда учились в 7 классе.

Майк всецело решил посвятить себя музыке после своего первого посещения концерта. Это было шоу Killer B, где принимали участие Anthrax и Public Enemy.

Майк должен был сдавать экзамены (в pasadena art school ) как раз в то время, когда LP должны были давать показательные выступления для 6 звукозаписывающих компаний... (экзамены и все, что начало происходить с группой привели его к нервному срыву..:)
По словам Ann'ы (девушки Майка), которая написала это в форуме на linkinparkweb.com, Майк создавал логотип для Styles of Beyond's 2000 FOLD CD. Она рассказывает: "Ехала я как-то и увидела на нескольких машинах стикер с логотипом Sob, блин, я почувствовала себя так глупо и волнующе....да.....это сделал Майк!!!"

Майк использует или использовал гитару Paul Reed Smith CE-22.

Он первый раз услышал по радио "One Step Closer" в Аризоне. Майк считатет клип Aphex Twin 'Windowlicker' юморным.

Майку ужасно нравится говорить от третьего лица.

Майк говорит, что самым тяжелым моментом за 2 месяца, проведенных в студии, было находиться рядом с Бредом, так как он не часто принимал душ, а сейчас и того реже..:) Майк- больщой поклонник Dido. Помимо неё ему нравится еще куча исполнителей женского пола , начиная от Kittie и до таких как Madonna, Sneaker Pimps, Portishead.Майк: "Я помню как попался за обмен Garbage Pail Kids в третьем классе, нам нельзя было этим заниматься во время урока... Но учитель не смог найти мою коллекцию картинок, поэтому и не отнял их у меня."

Джо говорит, что Valkary Fighter из Robtek это тот персонаж, который лучше всего характеризует его, потому что Valkary Fighter рациональный и просто клевый!!

О видео "One Step Closer":

Джо придумал концепцию этого клипа. В это видео должны были входить фотки с фэнами или какой-нибудь другой фигней...

Этот клип снимался в Los Ageles'кой подземке, в заброшенном тоннеле, примыкающем к такому же заброшенному V.A. госпиталю. Директором этого видео был Gregory Dark, интересным фактом биографии которого является то,что раньше он занимался съемкой порнографии, то есть был директором и по этой части..
О видео "Crawling":

Джо - мозг LP по поводу идей для клипов. Таким путем опять-таки он помогал придумать концепцию видео ряда для "Crawling".

Директором этого клипа был: Colin Strause из Pixel-Envy.
Сначала LP хотели сделать клип тяжелым, может даже дьявольским, но их звукозаписывающаякомпания хотела, чтобы видео не было таким нагруженным... Lp хотели печальный конец, но компания была против...и они нашли компромисс.., решили сделать "happy end".

Сюжетная линия видео о девушке, которой хорошо достается от отца... Linkin Park стремились к тому, чтобы их фэны смогли догнать смысл этого клипа.
