After all the hype about the original scheduled release, and then the rumours regarding the remixes, finally the much hyped 20p car boot record arrives from Rephlex. Now down to 3 tracks, the unearthed disco gems drop arpeggiator style onto the decks. ‘Timing, Forget The Timing’ is pretty much a disco classic, killer pop and very analogue, with enough strangeness about it to warrant all the hype. Bubbling basslines and padded drums start the groove, the disco etiquette is adhered to with the strict construction and soaring synths, but there are weird noises, like the stabbing siren that loops for the break, and a certain quirkiness that isn’t just the music, a very interesting track. Luke Vibert, meanwhile, takes his highly successful Kerrier District formula and delivers a rework of ‘Timing....’ - killer pop music with a twist and a dash of acid added to the groove, Luke sets the arpeggiators running, cuts the vocals up and re-edits the track superbly, keeping it analogue with ace synths and tight with class disco drums.
