This project started in my head few months ago (august 2007, exactly), when I first read a Thomas Bangalter interview in an american webzine. He was saying that they recorded every show with cameras and tried to make videos with them but didn't like the result so they decided to not release any DVD of the show. Several times, they also said that videos made by the fan around the world and available on Video Sharing websites were enough and closer to the reality than any other video footage. That's where I decided to make my own DVD. At the very beginning, it was for me only. I didn't think about sharing it on the Net at all.

So, from august to november 2007, I worked on a first version of my DVD, based on videos directly downloaded from serveral videosharing websites. I finished this work after the Album was released, somewhere few days before christmas. In the mean time, I discovered the French Touch Forum community and started to discuss with them. And then, I decided to share my first work with them to see their reactions; that's where I created my channel on Youtube and MySpace, even Dailymotion. Feedbacks were great, but always complaining about the poor quality of the videos I used. So, they encouraged me to contact people, to try to get the original videos and rebuild my clips. That's where TheWorldIsDaft really started in my head, in January 2008.

Then, I contacted around 60 people who I used videos from when I made my first DVD. For now, I received almost 35 positive answers and about 30 GB of original vidйos. I used the past few months since january to rebuild all the videos clips from the beginning with those original videos. I scheduled to release one clip per week until finished and then, wait until june the 14th 2008 to release the full DVD for free.

I always want to thanks all the people who sent me their videos. Without their trust this project wouldn't have been real. I understand there are lots of questions about this project, the fact that it could be considered as illegal and I know that the following words won't change anything to that fact. I'm not doing that for money, I'm not doing that for glory. I'm just doing that to participate to the music I like and to pay tribute to my favorite music band. That's definitely how I think the relationship between music, artists and the public will work in the future. Participating, all together. ART 2.0
