'In a career that has spanned more than 25 years, Mari Nakamoto created the most "authentic" jazz singing of any of her Japanese contemporaries. She listened to thousands of American classics, learned the inflection and phrasing, then spent hours developing her own style from the tools she acquired. Through nearly 20 records, she has put her unique phrasing around the best of the American Songbook.
