A lonely foggy place
A small deserted space
Abandoned barren lost in slum
A close full of dump

A faint shine of stars
A wail of police cars
Graffiti walls and wire-nettings
Round a glowing lamp

From dusk till early dawn
The lamp-post stays alone
A sole passer goes past
Dissolving in the night

The tramps in dirty suits
The gangs of reckless yoots
Some strangers step into
And out of the light

DAY IS OVER, SUN IS DOWN
EMPTY STREETS OF SLEEPING TOWN
LATEST HOPE IS GOING TO EXPIRE
ROAD IS GONE AND TIME IS OUT
TIRED MIND IS FULL OF DOUBT
BUT SOMEBODY ALWAYS STARTS A FIRE

By nights some barren sprite
Turns on the lamp-post bright
The gutter kids espied his work
But no one saw his face

A gleaming yellow eye
When fear is drawing nigh
A small lighthouse in urban maze
Can help to find the trace

Чаль точа журчат,

Рубит корни льда.
Ледяной потоп!
Льется льдам погибель,
Кругом - глубь, вода...

Соки снега мне в стебель!
Я странствую, слышишь,

Я пирую, я грежу,
Ветры сорваны с петель,
Ветры травят пространство,
Ветры Время содержат!

Луч проник в плечо,
Чую луч на членах,
Алчет грудь луча.
Плачу... Горячо... Больно грудь...
Эллах!!! Я от луча зачал!!!

В сердце бьют ключи,
А тех ключей источник -
За Покровом Вод.
Серебром в ночи,
Пропитавши почвы,
Прорастаю свод...

Взрывом до небес!!!
Да на разрыв с Востока -
Лыком в строки дня!
Грудь в огне словес,
Сердце стонет соком -
Я - фонтан огня!

Ветер выверен вороном,
Вепрем у корня каверна провернута -
Выровняй, кровно мне!
Каверзы розы
Прозорами зарева
Вызрели заново - Грозами, грозами!!!

И когда гроза,
Отгремев, гюрзою отползла назад,
Поднялась лоза,
И, перевит лозою,
Я открыл глаза...
Воды шли волной,
Унося на гребне
Хлопья пены сна.
И я стал собой,
И я увидел небо,
И была весна!

Позабытые стынут колодцы,
Выцвел вереск на мили окрест,
И смотрю я, как катится солнце
По холодному склону небес,
Теряя остатки тепла.

Цвета ночи гранитные склоны,
Цвета крови сухая земля,
И янтарные очи дракона
Отражает кусок хрусталя -
Я сторожу этот клад.

Проклинаю заклятое злато,
За предательский отблеск тепла,
Вспоминаю о той, что когда-то,
Что когда-то крылатой была -
Она давно умерла.

А за горами, за морями, далеко,
Где люди не видят, и боги не верят.
Там тот последний в моем племени легко
Расправит крылья - железные перья,
И чешуею нарисованный узор
Разгонит ненастье воплощением страсти,
Взмывая в облака судьбе наперекор,
Безмерно опасен, безумно прекрасен.
И это лучшее не свете колдовство,
Ликует солнце на лезвии гребня,
И это все, и больше нету ничего -
Есть только небо, вечное небо.

А герои пируют под сенью
Королевских дубовых палат,
Похваляясь за чашею хмельной,
Что добудут таинственный клад,
И не поздней Рождества

Но когда удается выйти отсюда,
Мне кажется, ты меня слышишь,
Каждый раз, когда я оказываюсь
Между этим миром и тем.

А с той стороны горцы
Предлагают холодный кумыс,
Наливают полную кружку,
Радуются как дети.
А я не могу дотянуться,
И кружка падает в пропасть
И остается в расщелине
Между тем миром и этим.

Там - священные горы,
И чтобы туда пройти -
Пароль и несколько долларов
В нелегальном конверте.
Здесь законы не писаны,
Но если не пан, то пропал,
И стражники, стражники, стражники...

А с этой стороны трубы
Играют музыку фабрик,
Лениво ползут тролейбусы,
Каждый - в своей борозде.
На главной башне стрелки часов

Читает стихи, разламываясь
На множество макрокосмических
Непостижимых систем.
С другой стороны - мышиные войны,
Их здесь называют поэзией,

Осталась одна зола,
Истлели письма и рукописи,
Руны на бересте...
А с этой стороны холодное небо
И воткнутая игла,
И божья коровка на зеркале
