Today I went to a friend and fellow police detective's funeral... He was a really, really great guy. Probably one of the nicest people I knew. He had cancer and died at age 46, leaving behind a wife of 7 years and two little girls. I guess it just made me think that whatever problems I have in my life are so small and insignifigant when compared to what his family is going through. If any good has come from this, maybe it is that all those people who knew him will not take life for granted, and enjoy it to the fullest. Personally, it makes me want to live each day like it's my last, and to tell all my friends how important they are... (like you, Nat.) Sorry for this morose post but all this has definitely weighed on my mind.

Good news today, I booked our tickets for Moscow from June 23rd through July 9th... this time though we are going to Riga for 5 days in July, but aside from that the rest of the time will be in Moscow. Does anyone know of any big events or goings on during these two weeks?

Well, it is decided - I am going to retire in Central America:) Perfect year round weather, wonderful people, and cheap beer. I must say that I like the cops there better than in Moscow. They didn't try to steal any money from me:)))

Well, we had a graduation ceremony for the new police who just graduated a 7 month police academy. In the academy they teach how to shoot, how to apply the law, and how to drive. Apparently this new female cop was sleeping through the driving course at our academy:)

Ok, I have not talked with my good friend Natasha since I was in Moscow 5 months ago... So, I decide to call her and say hello. What do I get for my efforts? I get hung up on. Surely this was a mistake, I thought, so I call back. Again, no "Hello Johnny!" and not even a "privet." She hung up again... Maybe she forgot how to speak English when she was in the UK?

There is much reason for celebration today! Sasha and I just returned from the immigration office and she now has a permanent visa! After 12 years of living in the US and not being able to leave the country, we now can go anywhere we like. This is really good news because she can see her father in Moscow and I can again fall asleep under a table at one of Nat and Dima's parties this May:)))
